you learned about your job.

before, one of my first jobs was a cashier at mervyns, right infront of the escalator. every day some little kid would get their finger caught and walk upstairs to the managers office with a bleeding limb. and everytime all they got was some repremanding and a band aid. my friend used to work at a movie theater and she shudders when she thinks about the bathrooms, one time in specific, about a trail of stinky brown mud leading to an empty toilet. i work in a hospital now. dont even get me started about how sick it is.

#1 T.G.I. Fridays in Rockeville Centre, NY, 1997: A co-worker grabs a manager and points out that the pork chops he is about to serve have too much blood on them. It looked like it had been dripped on it. I witnessed my manager wipe the blood off the chop, send my co-worker back out to serve it to the customer and then he entered the kitchen and asked the cooks to check their hands to see who was bleeding.
#2!!! At the SAME job I was cut via work-related negligence on the part of a co-worker to the extent that there was fat tissue exposed in my leg and I obviously needed stitches. My boss would not call an ambulance, a cab or arrange a ride for me and told me to walk b/c "The hospital isn't too far" and I sat bleeding in the kitchen for 30 minutes before someone offered me a ride.
#3 Ruby Tuesday, Iselin NJ 1999: A manager grabbed me by the arm and shoved me into a door TWICE. When I requested a corporate complaint, I was fired and told to leave the premises. After police arrived, the senior manager came flying outside announcing that no one had fired me and I was put back on the schedule.

we shrinkwrap videogames that people have returned and sell them back to other people as new ones. GASP!! oh, and at the museum, if you touch the paintings with diamond dust on them and then rub your eyes, you'll go blind. we're not supposed to tell people that, or they'll sue, but they're not supposed to be touching the fucking paintings anyway.

I worked in the spa of a hotel and resort in 2000. One of the girls who worked the check-in desk called to tell her boss that she'd been in a terrible car accident (hit by a drunk) and her pelvis was broken. He told her that if she didn't come in she was fired AND SHE ACTUALLY CAME TO WORK JUST HOURS AFTER BREAKING HER PELVIS. He then yelled at her for appearing unprofessional because she sat down on a chair behind the desk.

At thrift stores most clothes go out on the floor exactly as they came to us: unwashed. Once I found a spider's next in a sweatshirt. No, I didn't put that item out, but who the fuck knows what might have been on anything else I put out on the floor? Ugh, I don't even want to know.

Yes, I still shop at thrift stores.

when i worked in the food service industry, i was able to witness some of the most repugnant shit imaginable. ive seen food picked up off the floor and put on a plate and sent to the table. ive seen cooks dripping sweat on the food they are preparing. ive seen cooks eat off the plates of food they were preparing. ive seen people sneeze on the food. ive seen un-eated food reused. ive seen waiters spit in the food of table they didnt like. kinda makes you not want to eat out anymore.

2 disturbing things:

1) There is one of the regional sales reps who owns a whore house in Taiwan. This is not bullshit.

2) This fucking idiot in my department makes more than I do because he's buddies with the boss. That's VERY disturbing.

I worked at a vet's and saw them crop puppies tails and ears. And of course amputations, declawing and massive bleeding. And I was jus the pet groomer there. And yes I know that you don't start a sentence with, "And". And I don't care.

we sometimes "loose" checks from people we don't like and then charge them a late fee because they "didn't send them in on time"
