I'm lost
October 2009

Hey all,

My name is Linor Goralik, I'm writing an article about alt-porn for a pretty influencial Russian magazine, and I wanted tyo hear your opinions about this question: how do you see the future of our beloved genre? (Please excuse my mistakes in English, - it's not my native language, alas)

I mean, we all understand that the fact that alt porn exists and fights for wider standards of sexual behaviour, beauty, personal norms et cetera creates some kind of quantum effect, making all the things listed nore acceptible - and more, well, mainstream. After all, SG phenomena, for example, is a part of popular culture already, whether we all like it or not. So, my question is: what's next? Will alt porn stop being alt? If so - will people look for (and create) something even more "alt", or we will stop defining porn as alt or no-alt? Or what?

Really need your opinions. Pls help!

Yours,
Linor

PS: By the way, do you think this topic belongs here, or, say, in Philosophy or something? smile)) Should I cross-post?

I look for a reversion of porn along the same lines as Steam Punk. High-necked Victorian dresses, but with breasts exposed or something along those lines.

While I agree that SG is part of "popular culture," that doesn't mean it isn't "alt." I feel as if that particular distinction would be between "mainstream" (which SG is not) and "alt."

The majority of people doing porn don't have tattoos, piercings, dyed hair, or other body mods. (Well they have ahem, *some* body mods...) Thus SG girls are still in the minority. Thus they are "alt."

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
And yes I realize that not all SGs have those body mods, but they have the "alt" attitude, whatever that is.

Asking SG members about the future of alt porn is like asking someone who owns a car how the auto industry can improve fuel efficiency. You will probably get a lot of opinions, but it's impossible to say if any of them are serious or informed.

Personally I don't think most alt porn is "fighting" for anything except market share.

Well, I was going to have you write the script, but it would be dreadfully wrong of you NOT to wear a duster.

BTW, have you joined the Steampunk group yet? I'm loving how this subgenre is starting to garner attention. I can't wait to see how the Faux-hipster Conglomerates fail to Mass-market it.

Expect to See shoddy Goggles at Hot-Topic soon

I've been considering coordinating with a cousin of mine who draws comics to do something with Steampunk. And maybe vampires. Not sure yet.

I'll go join right now!!!

I wrote the pilot to a Steampunk Anime as my Screenwriting Final Project. The concept is actually pretty good if I do say so myself. I just need to tighten it up.

As for Steamporn. . . Well, I'll broach the topic when the World's Faire comes round in May. I'm signing up to work security for it. I think we'd have have a transitional phase of Steampunk Cabaret but in 3 years time there would mos def be Topless pirates on Dirigibles
