I wish that I didnt have to ask this, I just hoped that someone on here may help

My periods have always been irregular, I can miss them for almost 4 or 5 months. I began my period when I was 11 and so I assumed they would have no been regular. I had my son 13 months ago, in this time I have had 3 periods. I have currently been bleeding for 9 days and Im worried as it doesn't appear to be settling down. I am noticing clotting quite frequently and some are rather large. Im feeling some discomfort asthough blood is "rushing out" sometimes. Any ideas before I consult my doctor?

Go to your doctor. Or, at least give the doc a call.

Really, it sounds like it could be a miscarriage but you should still see a doctor.

I asked people on here first simply because I did not want for there to be a possibility of it being something minor and wasting peoples time

This is your health we are talking about. You said that something is going on with your body that isn't normal.

Really, even if any of us were/are doctors, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to give you an exact diagnosis. So what's that really worth?

Your health isn't something you want to gamble with - especially when it doesn't cost you to go to the doctor. I highly doubt any doctor who you see is going to think down on you for having this checked out...and if he or she did, they'd kind of be an asshole.

Would you want your mom holding off seeing a doctor if she had these symptoms? This could be something really serious or it may not, so stop putting it off and do what you need to do for both you and your child's sake.

Let us know.

For future reference, gushing blood for nine days is never minor.

Doctor first thing Monday morning... sit there untill he books you a sonogram or ultrasound or both. Do you feel tender, when pressed just above your hip bone pelvis. The results will take about two weeks ish (NHS) ring your doc and go back for results.

I truly believe that doctors are a waste of time..!!
For the record, I asked people on here not for a diagnosis but for suggestions as to possibilities and to see if anyone had experienced similar symptoms before. I was not gambling with my health but to begin I had assumed it was a normal period.

I called the NHS helpline first and I told them of my symptoms and they asked that I phone my emergency doctor as doctors are closed during the weekend. I was asked to go in immediately. When I arrived I was given a pregnancy test for fear of miscarriage despite that I assured him pregnancy was impossible, (...I couldnt tell him that the only person I have been intimate with in the past 9 months was female) He then pressed on my stomach to check for pains which he found in various parts of my stomach and said nothing. He checked my blood pressure and my heart rate and said that everything was fine. He has given me medication to calm the bleeding and should it not work by Tuesday I need to go to the hospital for more tests

I am considering a female doctor. The woman over the phone seemed more concerned and looked into my symptoms more

My doctors diagnosis? "Its a long period"

doctors: guess work in a white coat.

once i coughed up blood for 7 days. finally went to the ER and they said "stop coughing. you're retarded."

and it was true. but i didn't need a doctor to tell me that.

Because you've turned to the message board on a porn website for medical advice?

he may be right, but i think you should push for a consult with a gynecologist if you can.
