I guess it's because I've heard so many use it derogatorily. I realize some may call each other that, the same way some black people call each other "nigger" or "nigga", and the same way some gay guys call each other "fag" (like my gay friends do). But, I still think it's sounds harsh. And I don't use it.

Haha the Children's Hour, that one just makes me laugh right now... I know it is a pretty serious movie, but we have seen clips of it in my lesbian studies class and it keeps resurfacing.... a young Shirley Maclaine give a great hysterical performance that makes me laugh. Then I was in Future Shop and saw it there on sale and started giggling.

The Hunger is a great one too, but of all the great lesbian movies Thelma and Louise has been a favorite of mine since it first came out. Pun intended.

I've heard the Mermaids Singing is another cute film, and it was made in Canada too... don't let that scare you off though.
