I plan on seeing it tomorrow morning. I've had too many people tell me to see it in the last two days to wait any longer. I've heard nothing about the movie so far, just that I should see it, and I hope I can continue to avoid any details until tomorrow.

It was, in fact, as good as MrCrisp implies.

I'm so excited to see this movie. I haven't been this excited about a movie since Hannibal Rising. (I'm a Hannibal geek)

I saw it friday. It was like Independence day meets the fly meets the Blair Witch Project.

Overall, I liked the movie. But Christopher Johnson seemed like an anomaly amongst the population and the relationship between him and Wikus seemed a bit forced.

I nearly fell asleep at one point but, overall, I liked it.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

It's implied that the Prawn have a genetic caste system. Most of them in the ghetto were workers, less intelligent and incapable of leading or understanding complex problems. Christopher Johnson was from a thinking or leading caste, as was his son, which is why he could fix and run the command ship.

I adored this movie. I thought it was amazing, and I really hope they don't make a sequel to it but the ending did leave possibility for one.

i enjoyed.

good splatter.

being that 'prawn' was apparently a derogatory term, we decided to call them interstellar bipedal crustaceans

I think there will most certainly be a sequel.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Christopher Johnson promised to come back in three years, if not for Wikus, then for his people.

The prawn population had doubled in 20 years and they stated at the end that there were now 2.5 million in District 10. That is ripe for a huge uprising with superior technology and many, many exploding humans.

My comments posted elsewhere...

I went to the midnight showing on Thursday and to be honest I think it's kind of overrated. I didn't think it was bad, I just think that people are going crazy over it because it didn't suck like 90% of the sci-fi movies that come out this time of year. I don't think it was "game-changing" or "like nothing you've seen before" or "one of the best movies of the year". It didn't suck, admirable but not groundbreaking.

I think it's sad that this genre has been so neglected and pigeonholed that decent movies like District 9 are put up on a pedestal simply for not following the status quo. Even if it is one of the best sci-fi movies made in a while, that really isn't saying much.

Exactly. There had better fucking be a District 10 in the making.

I do not like the Sci Fi, but I am pretty excited about going to see this movie some time soon. Though it's been hyped up so much, I'm worried I'll be disappointed somewhat.

This movie was great. Excellent use of mecha. And it was Sharlto Copley's (Wikus) first role, too!

Amazing movie; me and a friend saw it last night, and I'm not ashamed to say that we both were a little misty eyed at the ending. Best movie of the year, so far, if you ask me.

certainly not game changing or amazing, but i always love to see humans turn into something else, and have to pick parts of their bodies off. don't you just love when your beloved nails, skin and teeth become obsolete?

also, I like when characters i can't stand die ironic deaths.

I'm saving those adjectives for James Cameron's Avatar.
