Hey there, i'm new on the boards and have got a serious question for anyone whose ever gone for mohawks or spikes.

My hairs too long for gel, spray and wax to effectively hold up. Has anyone had success using PVA glue, and is it 'orrible to get out.

Nyway i'm going to shave the sides of my head this week so i'll post some before and after pics so you can all revel in my transformation.

I had a mohawk once upon a time that was about shoulder length not standing up, and Elmer's glue and a hair dryer worked fine for me. I'd take two comes to opposite sides of a section of my hair and interlock them at the teeth, towards the tips of my hair and hold that with one hand, apply glue with the other hand, and then use a hair dryer on it for a few seconds to dry the glue.

I've heard egg whites work really well too, but I have no idea how the fuck that works.

It works. It's a pain in the ass to wash out. I mean, when I did mine that way I was able to sleep on it...

Oh, and if you've dyed your hair, the amount of washing you'll need to do will strip the colour right out.

And don't mistake the container of unlabelled container of Elmer's for the unlabelled container of carpenter's wood glue. It ends badly.

ARRR!!!

I don't really know what PVA glue is, but I do know what Elmer's glue is. I use it any time I want to put my hair up.

Works perfectly, holds up in rain and sweat, and is fairly easy to wash out in the shower after a few shampoos.

Just make sure all of it is out of your hair before you decide to comb it...results end badly. whatever

Hah, yeah. I found that with the Elmer's if you use a handful of conditioner first and then shampoo, it comes out a little easier.

I had a mohawk a few times and I used spray paint. Your hair will stay no problem. Just do it outside of course. Warning though: it will not come out!!! It was over a month before I got every chunk out washing every day.

PVA = poly vinyl acetate, otherwise known as elmer's white glue.

When I used Elmer's I used the clear wood glue so it wouldn't leave the white flakes. wink
