your favorite?

I've recently started to learn and enjoy Scotch Whiskey. I live in Edinburgh Scotland, so what else do I have to do?

I've started on Highland Park, which I found to be a bit sweet and smooth.

I been going to this pub where the manager has started me on a list of different distillers and so far I've found Scapa to be incredible. A deep and rich flavor with a hint of caramel (I think). I still have about a dozen or so to try before the manager graduates me to better tasting and more expensive types.

There seems to be an art in drinking Scotch. So far I'm just a novice.

So, let me know what's your favorite. If you don't like Scotch, then tell me what's your favorite spirit.

P.S. It's Whisky rather than Whiskey, if from Scotland.

I've never tried it. Johnny Black is as high as I've gone as far as that line. Is there actually that much of a difference between Black & Blue?

I celebrated my 25th birthday with a 25 year old single malt. Expensive as fuck, but worth it down to the last drop.

My regular scotch is

but I can pretty much only find Johnny Walker Black here in China, so that's what I've been having.

So far Scapa is my favorite.

Official Tasting Notes:
Colour: Deep honeyed gold
Nose: Heavy butterscotch sweetness, dried fruits, subtle hints of orange.
Body: Smooth and full
Palate: Perfectly balanced, wild honey and heather, delicate spices.
Finish: Very rich and long with a distinct dry aftertaste

Well, I found it to be quite rich and deep in flavor. Not as sweet as Glenfarclas, which I was not too impressed with. Maybe because it was a bit to sweet for me.

I have tried GLENMORANGIE, but I believe it was the 10 year old, not the 18. Very nice, though.

So far I've tasted Highland Park (I even purchased a bottle of 12 year old), Dalwhinnie (15 year old), Cragganmore, and last Friday (May 8th) Glenfarclas (15 year old - this one cost me £4.50 for a shot!).

Next Friday it's Springbank.

Lag is my regular. I love it with a nice cigar.

But I've also been a fan of Balvenie:

Two of my faves.
And their Founder's Reserve is silly smooth for a 10yold.

Lag smells and tastes like a fuckin First Aid kit!! I'm not a fan.

My fav's right now are

Aberlour Which I've had all but the a'bunadh. Very good IMO.

And Isle of Jura I've had the 10, 16 and recently very quickly went through a bottle of the 21 that I bought myself for Xmas.

Balvenie is also one of my faves, as well as The Macallan.

Now before I get reemed for my dislike of the Lagavulin, know that I'm still in the process of working my way through the range of whisky. I've had Laphroaig before after having a few drinks prior, and thought it tasted fine, even though I knew it had the same band aid smell and slight band aid taste as Lag. So I believe given some time my taste will mature to the point where I think Lag is the penultimate awesome whisky.

Lag aint for everybody, thats for sure, but I Looove me those Islay malts. Big smokey, salty peat bombs. Yum.

The Aberlour A'bunadh is pure heaven. Find it. Drink it. Because its cask strength I like to put two (and only two dammit) rocks in there. Really unlocks it on the palate. love
