since this thread is devoted to ben affleck.. and hatred of ben affleck... i'd like to mention that celebrity poker is on bravo tonight starting at either four or five e.s.t. and ben affleck will be on one of the shows tonight.

two of my favorite things: celebrities and texas holdem
they've had really good groups too. hank azaria. coolio. that chick from american pie whose name i can't recall right now... one of the guys from office space. alot of really good actors.

i personally will be rooting for don cheadle.

i have to rush to affleck's defense and say that anytime he is involved in a kevin smith movie, although his acting may be crap, he enriches the film.

who else could have delivered the line "I have no respect for people with no shopping agendas" so convincingly?

I think he can play that sort of role in a Kevin Smith movie well (though he was unconvincing in "Chasing Amy", which I really don't like that much), the sort of wise-ass supporting role where he gets in a few snappy lines.

The attempt to make him into some sort of leading man is just laughable, though.

I'm waiting for him to decide that he wants to be a rock star. Won't that be fuckin' HI-larious?

I saw him do an interview for Daredevil and he went on and on about how he was such a fan of the comic book when he was a kid. Fuck you. I can look at that guy and tell that he doesn't know Luke Cage from Richie Rich.

I see people always hating on Affleck, and I have to say some things:

1) Sure, a lot of his movies look bad to me... but then a lot of movies in general coming out nowadays look bad.

2) He has been really good on some SNL skits. When he was the obsessive teenage fan of Anna Nicole Smith? When he was the hairy Greek car salesman? When he showed up at the end of the Sully/ ZAZU skit and goes, "Hey, I've got a bottle of peach schnapps.... and some paint thinna.... hey, we'ah paaatee-en tah-night!!"? Those were some funny-ass skits.

3) Isn't it kinda nice that sometimes someone who isn't a friggin' model gets some acting jobs now and then? When people complain that some actor is plain, I mean Jesus, it's a relief to me to see regular-looking humans in a movie from time to time.

Having said all that... no, I do not want to see Forces of Nature, either.
