Hell yeah Courtly! I got to see The Distillers once and fell in love immediately. How do you not fall in love with a hot chick with a mohawk screaming obscenities? Brody is inspiration for female singers in this genre for sure.
Distillers were my absolute favorite for a while. I tried to promote their music in Chicago. Created concert posters and stuff -- because I love a lady-rocker with Brody's ferocity and fearlessness. I was really pissed when they cancelled their one Chicago stop for the Coral Fang tour and then really not that much later they broke up. I was blown away by the Distillers. I heard Spinnerette and, although I certainly respect change, I don't really think the music is as unique as the Distillers music was. Brody is fantastic and thank you so much for catching me up with what she is doing (even if this interview is a bit older).
