While fans of the Distillers and other next-generation punk bands should ultimately find this transition natural and easy to follow, Spinnerette --- the new vehicle for former Distillers lead Brody Dalle -- has a decidedly more gentle rock edge as debuted on their first release, the "Ghetto Love EP."

With languid, thumping rhythms and wiggling guitar underscoring Dalle's considerably quieter but no less fierce vocals, tunes like "Ghetto Love" and "Valium Knights" are the perfect comedown to a rowdy...

So weird. I love the Distillers, but I'm not sure how I feel about Spinnerette. It's definitely unexpected. Brody is a different woman now than she was then, and the music reflects that, for better or for worse.

Distillers were so awesome, sing sing death house is on my top ten list of records that changed my life. My old band did a show opening for the Distillers in 2002 in CT, it was a very validating moment for music for me. I remember the whole Rancid community kinda shunned Brody after her breakup with Tim, which was akward considering Brody had become the postergrrrl for punk girls in the early 2000's.

Her songwriting talent is still strong, I can't wait to hear the rest of the allbum!

That's so odd, I was just thinking of Brody Dalle. She looks so much different, but I forgot how much time has passed when she was in distillers. Gah I love her

Spinerette is very different. It's ok, it really is. But Brody's voice is very breathy at times. Poppy, radio-friendly, reminding me of the newer No Doubt or P!nk. Not bad, but I'm guessing I'll download this before I buy it from the clearance bin.

I saw the Distillers in 2003, at CBGB right when Brody left Tim Armstrong. I held up a sign in front of the stage that said TAKE TIM BACK and she kicked me right in my head. The crowd completely turned against me sooooo, I got the hell outta there

I really really miss CBGB frownzoom image

ohh, AND THEN! Months later, Spin publishes a Distillers tour diary article and Brody writes: "some dumbass held up a sign that said TAKE TIM BACK so I kicked him in the head."

I LOVE BRODY! I dig Spinnerette....Though, Coral Fang by The Distillers is still my favorite. It is awesome seeing a bad ass woman kicking ass onstage and I look foreword to all her great music.

I haven't listened to Spinnerette, so I had to look it up on YouTube. It only succeeded in making me really nostalgic for The Distillers and my early 20s.
