With all these social networking sites, email, cell phones, etc.

Do you still get handwritten or typed letters in the mail from a friend or family member? About what's happening in their life? Or do you still send out letters in the mail updating about your life? Not including Christmas cards, Birthday cards.

I'm wondering if technology replaced handwritten letters, Or soon will smile

I refer to these as "antiques."

I never get any but I still send out mix tapes, gift packages, letters, random cards, notes, drawings. I'm actually getting 3 packages ready at the moment but mostly for mix tape purposes and furthermore in this digital age, yes they're cassettes, not cds. tongue

it's been a while. but I'm in the middle of writing a letter to a friend at the moment, something I haven't done for a long time. I used to write long, long letters, and they used to take me an age to write. anyway, I'm really out of the habit. it's harder than I thought it would be; I suppose I've become too used to emails, and being able to alter what I've written as I go along.

Nowhere as often as I used to, but every once in a while. I have a friend who works in publishing and sends me the occasional book, too.

It was a letter from a mutual friend of mine and my sisters who wrote to convey her feelings at hearing the news that my sister had lost her fight with cancer. It was a beautiful letter and it gave me great comfort, it was a very personal way to convey such difficult feelings and it speaks volumes about her sensitivity.

On occasion, but they tend to be from creditors.

I appreciate getting handwritten cards from others, but I admit that I don't often write them myself since I can type so much faster and more legibly than I can write by hand. The ease of e-mail has in a way made us forget some of the rituals of a previous era, but one can still express deep emotion through a well-written e-mail. It's not the medium I find fault with, it's the inability of people to translate their thoughts in an articulate, descriptive way.

I send & receive cards. Those are fun. But most things are electronic.

I did get some cash in the mail from a crazy old lady that bought something from me, then she bitched that I didn't send her change, like I'm a bank or something.

A friend of mine occasionally sends me things in the mail - letters, CDs, etc - just so I get something other than bills in the mail. I love it!

Every other day! I bought a fountain pen and haven't put it down since. 0.42 really is cheap when you get down to it, and what other opportunity do I have to put ludicrous stickers on things?

I haven't written, nor have I recieved a handwritten letter in many years. I used to write to a friend that lived out in California and she would write back just as often, but she stopped contacting me altogether one summer, and I've never heard from her since.

We spent more time talking on the phone than we did corresponding other ways, but we'd often send pictures and other fun/amusing stuff through good ole snail mail. I do miss her from time to time, and I hope nothing bad had befallen her.

I still like writing letters. I looove stationary and stuff - guess I'm just crazy like that. I'm even trying to get one of those wax seal things.

But, I do still write letters to my grandparents. I just sent them a post card yesterday too.
