It's straight to video and the original writer and director is not involved at all. 'which is, I suppose, why I have never heard of it.

I'd heard about the sequel a while ago, and while I never expected it to be very good...the trailer just makes it look so much more awful than I ever imagined.

seriously. if i see it, i'm half expecting a big kung fu climax with people throwing hadokens at each other. hadokens made of quantums.

that's how it's looking. and that they're taking the whole "when the world ends" thing literally.

It does follow the " I head butted you , so it didn't hurt me " philosophy of film making . And a guy walking around with what looks like some kind of hentai tentacle coming from his chest . So yeah , I predict massive fail all around .

Yeah , but I don't remember the effect being so in your face as it is in this trailer . I thought it was in the movie for maybe a minute or two . Guess I have to go back & watch it again . I stand by my head butt comment though biggrin

s.Darko for Samantha Darko, I assume. His younger sister. I'm actually a bit hyped to see it just because I was flustered the first time I watched the movie because I couldn't find a theme or symbolism to it, I just knew it blew me away due to the time paradox presented in it. If you spent time on the website (which was a huge fucking puzzle to figure out) and read the snippets of The Philosphy of Time Travel book from the movie (basically if you got into the movie's mythology), the sequel makes far more sense. Donnie Darko was superhero movie. In a nutshell, ever so often, there's a split in the timeline that creates an alternate universe that can't survive for long, so God picks someone heavily involved in it and controls them and the people around them in order to bring resolution to the timeline to prevent the destruction of the universe. He gives them superpowers (visions, mind-reading, i.e. the spears of fate that project from their chests, superhuman strength, i.e. the axe in the solid bronze statue) and manipulates them into fixing things. THAT is why people acted so oddly in the first movie, such as the teacher telling the new girl to sit next to the boy that she finds the cutest.
I would like to add that, despite the fact that I took all of about an hour to research the real story behind the movie, I think it's become an overrated movie due to the Hot Topic culture that idolized it.
I'm not expecting Citizen Kane, but that looks like my idea of a fun, trippy, surreal action movie.
