I want to start a board about Los Angeles- write what you love about it, what you hate about it, what's going on (events and the sort) or what you see (male hookers on Santa Monica blvd. and the like)

Show a little LA Pride (or hate) wink

If I could wall off Southern California from the rest of the country and light it on fire and watch it sink into the Pacific, I would do it. Without hesitation.

Los Angeles is where i was born, i believe this place made me who i am ( i like who i am, lol), i would live in no other place. to me it's not the stars, industry, the fashion or the scenes, its the people and the aura L.A. gives out. Its no other place.

I myself am a big fan of the city- I can't imagine living anywhere else.
I'll shout it from the rooftops or throw up gang signs to prove it.zoom image

So what's going on in the city tonight?

I know there's a Sex, Rock and Roll comedy show at the Improv on Melrose tonight...I'm checking it out with some friends.

I went to LA once. Many years ago. It was fantastic. I could wear shorts and swim outside in February.

Top ten things I like about L.A.

1. Food joints. e.g. Oki Dogs, Canters, Roscoes chicken and waffles.

2. The girls. There are hot girls EVERYWHERE in Los Angeles.

3. L.A. the day after it rains is absolute paradise. The weather is so nice you could vomit.

4. Amoeba Music Hollywood. Shout out to my ex co workers at the Berkeley store, but this one takes the cake.

5. The Heavy metal shop on hollywood blvd. They play Guns N roses "lies" on repeat. Epic.

6. Venice beach and all the freaks on the boardwalk. Ever seen a guy with a turban on rollerblades play psych guitar through a battery operated speaker? Or have you ever seen a guy balance a folding chair on his chin by one leg with a girl sitting in it? Didn't think so.

7. The Cha Cha lounge. Dudes from Melvins and BIg business hang out and DJ here. Used to be a tranny bar from what I understand but now is a hip tiki type bar. The Red Lion across the street gets an honorable mention for awesome food and giant beers.

8. La cita Bar in Downtown. Last time I was in L.A. I met Billy Zane here and we mentioned off handedly that we liked Sniper and as we were walking away he shouted "One shot. ONE KILL." Totally unprovoked.

9. Mexican food. You can get supreme mexican food anywhere in L.A. As much as I like Mission style burritos here in San Francisco, nothing beats a burrito in L.A.

10. Meeting/seeing famous people. I'm a dork I know. Shortlist of people Ive met or seen.

-Billy zane
-Pam anderson
-Alice cooper
-Tim allen (shaking his wang through his sweatpants at some teenage girls, and laughing about it)
-Choda boy from orgazmo ( looking through the unemployment papers across from amoeba)
-Rose McGowen
-Seth Green ( at astro burger, and he totally overheard us talking about how we couldnt remember his name )
-Owen Wilson
-CC deville
-Kelly osbourne.
-Neve Campbell

I love LA. Maybe I'll move there. San Francisco is kind of killing my life anyway.

1. Mulholland Drive
2. The drive from the Valley to LA down Laurel Canyon
3. The drive from Hollywood to the beach on Sunset
4. So much delicious vegetarian food
5. Watts Towers
6. So many gorgeous cars. Everything from dropped El Caminos to brand new Lamborghinis.
7. People who are too self absorbed to care if you are cool or not, as long as you act like you think they are cool
8. Museum of Jurassic Technology
9. Griffith Park
10. Silverlake

1) Fred 62, Tito's Tacos and Johnny's Pastrami

2) the best motorcycle roads money can't buy: Angeles Crest, Mulholland Drive, many, many other canyon twisties

2a) California is the only state in the US where lane splitting is legal, even though most of the rest of the world is fine with it. A great thing, especially since the traffic is so brutal that splitting on a bike can be the only way to get anywhere on time when things hit gridlock.

3) the motorcycle/car scene: if you can't build it/buy it/see it driving down the street in L.A. it does not exist in the world

4) movies: the L.A. Conservancy downtown historic movie palace walking tour, the Orpheum, the Arclight and dozens of great small theaters

5) bars: lots of good ones with favorites being the Edison, the Burgundy Room and Bigfoot Lounge

6) the weather: almost every day is a perfect day (especially if you don't like winter). The place was built for convertibles...

7) booze: you can buy decent wine, beer and liquor at supermarkets, they are allowed to advertise sale prices, and the better liquor stores have incredible selections from around the world at great prices (Hi-Times in Newport carries 9 different brands of Rye whisky, 9 different Cachacas, dozens of scotches, and a walk in fridge full of hundreds of imports and microbrews. Yay!)
