The director is not the boss. He's a guy who works with the actors.

The producers are the bosses. McG is very likely a producer to boot but there are many other ones whose job it is to fix shit like this so McG doesn't have to get blood on him and make working with Christian and the DP shitty the rest of the shoot.

It's easy to point fingers at Bale. He's passionate about his job.

I think it is easy to sympathize with the guy he yelled at since most of us may have been on the receiving end of such a tirade at some point or another due to our mediocrity.

How many of us are in the position Bale is in and has to deal with idiots all the time while trying to do a job. We may all think we are, but really, who really knows what Bale is going through.

No one is going to go see a movie to see Mr. McG do his thing. People go to see Bale.

You have some very peculiar notions about how movies work for someone with any real experience.

But how many people make 4 million a movie?

Director works with actors. You're an actor. No duh you think director runs the ship.

Having worked with a variety of directors, yeah, some of them try to run the whole ship. But the large majority don't; simply put, on most sets that are larger than a commercial, a director can't be expected to deal with anything but the actors.

I've been yelled at for being much less of nuisance, and I was a freaking PA. I wasn't even getting paid, I was just volunteering, and I got screamed at. Now if I screwed up and I was getting paid for it, I better be getting my ear torn off. I should freaking know at least the simplest rule of not messing with the lights while rolling!

For everyone who is saying that "Christian Bale is a bitch..." or something to that effect, please for the love of God flip out on someone who fucks up repeatedly despite being warned, it'll make you feel better. You can tell he's not quick to get angry, during the rant he says something to the effect of "You're a nice guy, but that's fucking amateur."
