I too love Toni Collette, but the ads plastered all over the subway make me wish this show would get canceled immediately. Then I think of how it probably will get canceled immediately, and that makes me sad for Toni Collette (cuz we like her). Then I see those ads again and remember that Steven Spielberg is the executive producer, and I don't feel so bad anymore.
It wasn't terrible, and I like the guy from Northern Exposure, but I doubt I'll watch it again. I'd be interested to hear if that is an accurate depiction of someone with multiple personality disorder or not.

This (all of it) was actually my immediate thought when I saw the first commercial for it.

Yeah, plus it did REALLY well, at least on it's premier episode. I think I read somewhere that it had more viewers than Dexter and Californication combined.
And Toni Collette is, of course, brilliant in it.

I love Toni Collette but wasn't sold on this. I'd like to hear reviews. What network is it anyway?
Showtime, Sundays at 10.

I'm not sure about this yet. From my reading on it, it seems like it's sometimes accurate and sometimes really off. However, two friends of mine online who have Dissociative Identity Disorder have been raving about it, saying that (on the whole) it's fairly accurate. Obviously that's just anecdotes, but they have offered glowing reviews.
However, I've had one major problem with that aspect of it, which is:
In the first episode, her husband makes out with/feels up her 15-year-old personality. To me, this was infuriating, because that seems really not-cool. One would think that if a person had been married to someone with DID for (I think they said) 17 years, they'd know better than to make out with an underage alter.
I really like it, I watched it OnDemand without knowing anything about it, at all. I'm glad I saw it this way, nothing to prejudice the way I felt about what I watched. It was hilarious, and Toni Collette was brilliant.
I saw the first three episodes and I really enjoyed them but I can see how it could get really shitty, really fast.
I find the children terribly annoying, and the fact that they call Tara's alternate personalities "alters" also annoying. I didn't realize Diablo Cody was writing this show until the third episode. It shows, and ughhhhh.
