If you're hankerin' for some Joe check out Warren Ellis' GI Joe resolute on youtube. It's like 11 episodes and the showdown between snake eyes and stormshadow is fabulous.

Oh, this is good. I watched 11 episodes again last week.

That was fucking awesome.

They should've made the movie more like that.

Hey, everyone...

I'm going to an advanced screening of the movie tonight. I'll give you my thoughts (without spoilers, of course) either late this evening or tomorrow.

Here's hoping that I'm pleasantly surprised!

And I was! GI Joe was WAY better than expected. Dialogue was painful at points, but visuals were really cool!

I won't get into too many details, but all in all I was very pleasantly surprised. I think it will do better than people anticipate.

And now you know...

Just tell me, are the Joes always in the stupid Halo suits, or is that a relatively minor occurrence in the film?

The Accelerator Suits that you see in the trailer when they jump over and through the train are only featured in that one chase sequence. It's a fairly long sequence though. I actually thought it was very successful. They did quite a few different things with them during that whole thing and they were all pretty visually impressive.

So, to answer your question, it's a minor part, but was much better executed than I thought it would be. They didn't overdo it.

I'm glad to hear the Halo suits aren't a major thing. VERY VERY glad.

I'm also wanting to see jawsome vehicles.

Employees of Hasbro confirmed to me that the movie is not all about those suits. And its about ninjas and the GI Joes that we love.

Next weekend. Make your plans now. Don't forget Fandango. They found me a midnight showing Thursday. So excited.

If you like action movies, go see it.

If you like ninjas, go see it.

If you like women in black leather shooting guns, go see it.

If you like science fiction movies like Star Wars and Independence Day, go see it.

If you like GI Joe as much as I do, you will see it a couple of times.

I liked it. Black_Beard has a review on his blog. Oryon said it reminded him of a Jame Bond movie. Amongst other things.

it looks like they all stole Uma Thurman's outfit from The Avengers and I'm sure we all know how great that film turned out

Brendan Fraser as Gung Ho? Really?!?

Well, that's better than I originally thought, because I thought I heard someone call him Sergeant Slaughter in his little cameo scene.

Channing Tatum was...okay...as Duke, though I would have been more comfortable with him as a made up Joe than friggin Duke.

None of the villains really impressed me, especially Cobra Commander. Early in the movie I figured he was Dr Mindbender, but then Destro calls the other guy Mindbender. Well I guess Zartan was okay, but he didn't have the accent, or the Drednoks!

I was concerned about Tatum as Duke as well. But he seems to have pulled it off. Especially with the scar.

I had the character who became COBRA Commander pegged as Mindbender too. So that was interesting.

Baroness was hot. The story change relating to her origin was interesting.
