Membership on the outs...

My membership is going to run out in January, and I've decided to let it lapse. Actually, I cancelled it. This isn't a thread for reasons, however; if you want that, read my freaking journal.

Now, I don't expect to be missed. I know most of you couldn't give a rat's ass about what I do or where I do it. But I did wonder one little thing: do you think it's possible for me to hit 2000 posts before January?

This is a thread in which you guess what my final post count will be. I'm gonna shoot for 2011, but I will not get there by foul means; read, I will not pad my post count with frivolous (well, more frivolous than usual) posts about nothing. Whoever is closest without going over is teh winn4r.

The winner of this little Price Is Right game gets a brand new book, mailed to them free-of-charge. It could be your choice, it could be my choice. That just depends on how stringent your morals are (I think we all know what I'm talking about), and whether I have the book you want or not.

Now the problem with this is: by the time the winner is decide, I will no longer be a member of this site. How do we rectify this situation you ask? Well, first of all, we remember never to use the word "rectify" in a sentence again. Second, I will be editing this thread later with my spam e-mail address. I know this is a dangerous thing to do on message boards, but seeing as it's an address dedicated entirely to spam, I think it'll be ok.

The other problem with this is number of entries. You may only enter once, and if you enter more than once, your entries will be invalid. Think carefully before you post your number too, as any edited posts will also be counted invalid. And be sure you don't post the same number as someone else; I will go with the earlier post.

Obviously I might have trouble keeping track of number of entries, so if anyone wants to tattle on their fellow members for breaking the rules, I'd be ok with that. Good luck.

Also, my entry doesn't count; 2011 is still a valid guess.

And for those of you who don't want to participate because you think this is really dorky, you're right. It is. But the true dorkiness lies entirely on my side; free shit is always cool.

I'll bite. Only because I like crunching numbers in regard to statistics and probability. Dividing your total comment count by the length of your membership... Reviewing you recent activity, which has shot up extraordinarily in the last couple days... Factoring in the probability that there is an emotional attachment to leaving SG soon, hence more posts... Taking into consideration that the holiday's are coming up so you'll have more free time in which to be an active member... Assuming you have 30 days remaining in which to post before your account expires... x/y - a + b to the nth... carry the one...

Your estimate is modest, I say you'll have 2055 comments before you leave.

1337 would be more recognizable, but 1138 would give you more nerd-cred. So it's kind of a toss-up between whether you want to be seen as an elite nerd or a 1337 haxxor. Or maybe it's just a toss-up between whether you run out of things to say at 1138 or at 1337...

Either way, I still wish I'd thought of that.
