I was open minded on The Happening.

People say The Village was horrible. It really wasn't.
I expected The Happening to have gruesome fun deaths.

Or even explain what was "Happening" . Since they said that word like 300 times.

The more I think about it the more it frustrates me. puke

Personal taste for all types of art are subjective, so I don't mean this to be a factual statement, simply my opinion: The Village is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Seriously. Also, I don't think the man has made a good film since Unbreakable. A huge disappoinment as a director.

Mark Wahlberg's performance was so goofy it was distracting.

Which, considering how crappy the movie was, might not have been a bad thing.

I sort of liked it. The acting was absolutely terrible though.

There were definitely a lot of creepy moments.

I read somewhere that it was intentionally supposed to be a big budget movie with a b movie plot, and on that level it works for me.

First off I like(d) John Leguizamo ^_^
and you are right it was intended to be more Alfred Hitchcock type B movie

I think the issue is more that his movies have plots that deal with Some topics that realistically are not that popular here in the US (such as the happening)
and as someone born in this country I honestly feel that a high majority of movie goers would rather see hostel 3 then a movie that forces you to confront issues in today's world.
Just my two cents

Also, I loved the Village. And the Lady in the Water.

Not nearly so awesome.

The plants just released some chemical or something that made people kill themselves.

If by "confront issues in today's world" you mean a lame plot and horrific acting, then yeah that is exactly why I hated the movie.

well everyone is entitled to there opinions and likes, and as star wars 4-6 is in your top movies I doubt we will see eye to eye on this ^_^
Im not saying it was the best movie hes ever done or even a really good movie, just that he gets a lot of shit I personally do not always see as warranted/deserved.

When I first starting watching this I was really hooked. But toward the middle I was feeling like if they say 'the happening' one more time I am going to kill someone myself! It was okay. I didn't really feel it some great message at the end like someone suggested to me before I watched it. I still like his movies and will continue to see them whenever he releases them. I might not rush to see them in the theater, but I will see them.

For the record, by 4-6 I mean the original trilogy.
