OK, i saw this yesterday with a like-minded friend, and IMHO, it's the funniest Christmas movie in years.

Billy Bob Thornton plays a drunken, worthless Santa. There's also his foul-mouthed sidekick elf, and Bernie Mac as a perpetually annoyed mall security chief, and John Ritter (pre-dirt nap) as a clueless mall manager.

This movie pulls no punches, cuts no-one a break, and the tugging you feel is on your colon, not your heartstrings. It's a fine black comedy from the director of Crumb, produced by the Coen brothers (IIRC), and it probably won't be in the theaters long.

It's a perfect antidote to all the fake cheer and corporate commercial crap that is everywhere this time of year.

the director of Crumb? I'm intrigued now. Not a big Billy Bob fan, but I'll have to give it a try.

And Ghost World! I too have heard good things about it and will probably allow the holiday season to suck me in as well.

Yeah, I'm seriously looking forward to this. Apparently there's a scene where Billy Bob repeatedly punches a little kid. Beautiful.

Bad Santa~!

I loved this movie. Billy Bob rules. I was extremely disappointed with "Elf"...so at least one wierd Christmas movie this year made me happy.

In the commercials it looks like shit. A NOT-NICE SANTA and an elf WHO WILL TELL YOU WERE TO STICK IT. So it blew my mind when I found out Terry Zwigoff directed it. It's been poorly marketed, but I'm glad to hear good things about it.

Yeah. This has happened to me a number of times:

(A preview for Bad Santa plays on the TV)
ME: Oooh! I really want to see this!
FRIEND: Ha-ha! Oh, you kid.
ME: No, I do.
FRIEND: Yeah. Sure.
ME: No, it's directed by Terry Zwigoff! The guy who did Ghost World!
FRIEND: Whoa!

The scary thing is that it's happened at least three times with my Very Special Ladyfriend playing the part of FRIEND.

Best Xmas since movie "Scrooged" or "Nightmare Before Christmas". 'fact "Bad Santa" was so damn flawless I had to take my little 15 year old brothers to see it a second time.

When you see that poor little fat kid your intitial reaction is to laugh, and you will. Then that damn voice in the back of your head tells you that you shouldn't. But if you don't find it amusing, then you should see "Elf" or "Haunted Mansion".

"What the FUCK kid?! Are you fuckin with me?!!"

Hell ya, that movie was hilarious!!
