You certainly won't find any comics fans here.

Yeah, same here. Probably because there isn't really anywhere around here to buy comics. I've gotten into them more lately but only because I can buy the full books online now. It's still about a 45 minute drive to anyplace that sells more than a token selection of comics.

It is truly a shame that few people will ever know the greatness of this work.

I'm sure a lot of people will read it when the movie comes out.

Oh, it's already started. You couldn't go into a comic shop at this year's Comic-Con without hearing someone being told, "I'm sorry, we're all out of Watchmen."

They will have already gotten someone else's perspective on the storyline from the film. They should read it beforehand.

As much as it would be fun to say, eruditely, I read this 10+ years ago; I won't complain if people do see the movie and then read the book. At least they progressed, regressed, whatever to the written page. I'm all for people being forced to question for themselves what is right or wrong, despite the path things took to get to that point. The movie may end up just as psychologically thrilling as the book; I doubt it, but hey, I still cry every time I watch V For Vendetta. So, perhaps...

Yeah, only the one million people that buy it in 2008 alone, and I guess the handful of people that made it the highest-selling graphic novel of all time over the last 20 years.

If anything, it's a book that'll ruin the subsequent movie. I saw Cider House Rules, loved it, then read it, and loved it, and now I find the movie virtually unwatchable.
