Fans of the '90s alt-rock hitmakers Garbage will have to wait a wee bit longer for the long-awaited solo album from the band's lead vixen Shirley Manson and maybe even longer for a new release from the group that brought us such hits as "Stupid Girl," "Only Happy When It Rains," "#1 Crush," and "The World is Not Enough," the theme from the James Bond film of the same name.
You see, Manson's got a new gig and she is rather enjoying it. The redheaded singer-turned-actress from Edinburgh, Scotland,...
She seems like a really independent spirit. I wish the record labels would listen to her. She should make that solo stuff anyway. She also seems like the kinda person who'd be in therapy, calling everything 'gifts'. Some stuff sucks, you CAN identify it as such. I have no idea why she doesn't have confidence in her appearance. Great interview.
fantastic interview. Every time I've seen Garbage live I've been blown away by Shirley's energy and, for lack of a better word, vibes. Seeing her strutting around onstage with so much energy and confidence is so sexy and inspiring.
ah, im so glad shriley was interviewed. i love her voice, its like if molasses had a voice, it would be dark and smooth and rich and sharp. so i guess shes like molasses to me. lol. i do love my sweeteners

Very telling interview. Great questions and Shirley was so open. Excellent read, I love Garbage.
Great article. She seems real down to earth. She's been in my top 3 of beautiful women for the past 10 years. Awesome read, and I can't wait for her album to come out.
This was a heart-stripped article. It reveals that human being can be capable of achieving great things. I have been a fan of Garbage and Shirley since they released their first album. They are my #1 band and still do. I am eager to hear from them in the near future, I do. Thanks for this article and thanks Shirley for sharing these uplifting words with us.
its really rather sad that they didn't buy her msic just cause she didn't want to write pop anymore.
she is very eloquent in her speech. great interview.
Shirley Manson is the most amazing woman, its ever been my pleasure to be obsessed with. I first encountered Shirley's music, back in '94, when she was still with Angelfish. I find her voice thrilling... reaching into my very marrow. I call her music an eargasmic experience. Much of her music truly reaches me, and says many things I would like to say, if I had her gift for words.
But she is also a woman of substance... who has championed many causes, and dared to speak her mind. She dared to take the Bush Administration to task, when others were afraid... in her blogs, in interviews, and in random comments - and she got in more than just a little trouble for that. And she has always challenged the conventional perceptions of women's roles in any given society, and has always shown great empathy for the human condition in general.
She is a great beauty, a great talent, and a great human being... and she is and shall always be, my #1 Crush.
