Yes, I'm really sorry for your loss. My friend lost her dad last year because of a drunk driver. I'll never do it. I'm always the one who drives everyone else home.

Good points all around.

This thread got my attention because I stopped talking to a friend of mine (temporarily) about 4 weeks ago because he decided to go out driving while throwing-up drunk after I'd done my damnedest to keep him out of trouble or jail for all of a Friday night. It's been tough on me because this guy is one of my longest, best friends and the only friend I really have in town. But it meant enough to me that he learn a lesson that I'd pull out that friendship until he honestly can say I can trust him again.

What's even worse is that he's pulled this kind of shit for years, usually keeping it secret from me (though I must admit there have been times I failed to step in) but not from any of our shared friends. But you know what, no one has had the courage to tell him what he's doing wrong. Unfortunately, it's that kind of complicity that leads to innocent people dying.
