seriously, do you? i've been taking wellbutrin for a while now and i swear to god I SHIT YOU NOT, i hear voices and music or other sounds in my head sometimes.

like..i constantly think my cell phone is ringing, but when i look down, its not. when i am sitting downstairs alone - like right now, i hear people chanting way off in the distance

or i hear the faint sounds of a television set a floor away - but the tv is off - i know i checked it like 50 times.

the cell phone thing is the most annoying one by far.

but sometimes i hear random stuff like power drills or chimes or the click of a lock in places that there is no way those things can actually be happening...like a cabin in the middle of the woods with no power.

now mind you..the voices aren't telling me to do anything..they are really faint...

does this happen to anyone else?

Huh, that used to happen to me a lot in high school, but I blamed it on loud concerts and an overactive imagination. It never occurred to me that my meds might have been causing it.

I still hear stuff, but it's probably just acid flashbacks.

the voices didnt start till i started taking wellbutrin....if i can get the cell phone thing to stop i dont think i will mind them..they sort of keep me company. the chanting, which is going on right now, for example, is sort of soothing..

this is probably stating the obvious, but ohh well. you should tell the person who is prescribing you the medication that you are hearing voices and noises. and i think most people hear music and voices in there head, it just doesn't sound like it's coming from outside of there head.

Once or twice I've heard very quiet classical music playing. Or Baroque, I should say.

Switch to Celexa/Lexapro. It's dreamy. I never hear any weird noises or voices, and the only side effect is a slightly stoned feeling at bedtime (when I take it). That's passing, though.

ive tried celexa...unfortunately, it has sexual side effects for me...aka i can't get it up, which i normally probably wouldn't care about, but my girlfriend would literally flush all the pills down the toilet immediately because she needs it like 432342x a day.

so far, out of serzone, prozac, celexa and effexor, the only thing that works for me with side effects that i (or my gf) can tolerate is wellbutrin.

going off meds altogether isn't really an option - i tried that and i sat around the house for 6 months masturbating, drinking and thinking up inventive ways to kill myself while watching every single episode of whose line is it anyway, the daily show, all the reruns of star trek the next generation (for like the third time), etc.

the noises in my head aren't dangerous i dont think...they are kind of fun in a way, i was just curious if other people heard stuff too. if you have to have a side effect, id choose this one over say explosive diarrhea or nausea. wellbutrin does have good side effects too to cancel out the voices such as a near complete loss of appetite (which is fine, cause I'm too lazy to buy food anyway) and delayed ejaculation (which is just plain super).

In all seriousness, i went on meds to stop voices and noises in my head. I had been having them ever since i could remember and i just thought everyone heard shit like that.

I'm off the meds now and no more problems, maybe they were little gnomes inside my head (like the ones inside the fridge that makes the ice) and the meds killed the fuckers.

I've synthesized the noises in my head into a manageable hum. The only time I still hear really vivid noises that aren't there is in the shower.

Hearing voices and other noises can be the first step toward killing sprees. For the sake of the entire rest of the world please call your doctor and tell them what's going on.

When i was about 7 years old the voice in my head would curse at me and taunt me almost endlessly. It scared the bejesus outta me.

mmmm....i don't know about telling my doctor unless the voices/noises get to be a problem and interfere with my everyday life or start to tell me things. right now they are a faint buzz in the background when all else is quiet and I can deal with that. my doctor is extremely good but extremely cautious..overcautious to the point that it pisses me off sometimes. Like when i had serious back pain (i had spine surgery years ago and the mri's to prove it) and he refused to give me any painkillers and only gave me 6 muscle relaxant pills. im afraid he would yank my wellbutrin prescription right away..and since ive tried so many other anti-depressants that don't work at all, im willing to stick it out with the strangers in my head.

i do admit though, the prospect of people wandering around with deadly weapons with voices rattling on in their heads must be a bit unsettling.

wait hang on...someone is talking to me...No I...NO KIETTY StOP teLLINMG MEe thESE THINGS11..

you know, i used to hear weird shit when i was lying in bed at night. sometimes it would be really fucking loud...like a snipit of a song, or various voices i had never heard before. i always figured it was just my brain kind of "shutting down" and going into sleep mode. you know, like how your computer makes all these weird noises before it turns off.
i never could figure out what the hell i was hearing - just always thought it was normal. (i get the cell phone thing too - a lot.)

Cyd - talk to your doctor about it. The "fix" may be something as simple as giving you a lower or higher dosage of the medication.

I was like stoned girl on Wellbutrin... it wasn't that I was hearing things that weren't there, per se, it's that the ones that were had never bothered me before.... like the fridge humming. Got really paranoid, had big issues with rectangle shaped spaces, quit, went on Paxil, and got... uh... worse.

I've just quit meds altogether and i'm glad I can.

I get something similar to that, but I sort of figured it was nothing/everybody had it. it doesn't bother me. I just get really quiet snippets of a conversation that usually makes no sense, in the back of my head when I'm driving or going to sleep. I just figured it was my brain firing random synapses, like when you dream. I mean, it's not like schizophrenia where they are talking TO you constantly, telling you to do things, etc. it's completely different. I was on wellbutrin in the past, however. hmm. I don't get the phone thing though. I dunno. ::shrug::

the phone thing totally sucks though its the worst out of all of them. you just have to fight the constant compulsion to check if your god damn cell phone is ringing...and sometimes it is, so you cant just ignore it..but 7 out of 10 times it isnt. gah.
