It's funny, but that is my #1 complaint about glasses. That and not being able to cuddle/ wrestle with them on. But mostly the lying down to watch TV thing.

I've got a pair of old glasses that I use for the laying down/TV thing. Works pretty good.

I wear contacts during the day and glasses after sundown. I'm pretty blind without them, but my vision is correctable to better than 20/20. I'm pretty content with my arrangement and I'm not going to fuck with it.

But hey, to each his own.

Wait, you were happy to go to a doctor because he fucked up someone's eyes?

I don't have an old pair that works because my prescription changes faster than I can afford to buy glasses. frown

Sometimes I wear contacts to watch TV but it makes my eyes really dry.

I was tempted for a long time, but these days I think I'd rather have a graceful adjustment from regular glasses to bifocals rather than get used to having good vision and then wind up having to get used to whipping out reading glasses whenever I want to read something.

At this point I operate like glasses were an extension of my eyes. There used to be a couple of things where needing to wear them was inconvenient (swimming, for example) but I've lost interest in doing them anyway.

I got it and wouldn't do it again but at the same time wouldn't go back.

The surgery was insanely uncomfortable and was filled with anxiety. Keep in mind I was as cool as a cucumber until the surgery started so it's not that I had it built up in my mind as being scary. I had intense pain starting about a half hour after the surgery and it lasted for about 2 hours. It hurt just as bad to close my eyes as it did to open them, sort of like extreme chlorine burn.

My left eye is now basically perfect but my right eye is not, so seeing from very far away is still not happening with me. Night vision isn't great. Viewing stuff w/a glow behind it, from far away, is also difficult, i.e. computers, alarm clocks, etc. It is still nice to simply not have to worry about falling asleep with my glasses on....but I do miss my glasses, which were a huge part of me. I wake up seeing, go to bed seeing: mission accomplished.

I like how glasses look on me, and I don't have to worry about a laser slicing off a layer of my eye. I'm totally okay with just wearing glasses.

not "someone's" eyes. "Kathy Griffin's" eyes.
I read her blog the night before I went for my surgery.

I would love to get laser surgery, but the cut off point for qualifying is at -6.0, and I'm beyond that.

Definately don't cut corners on this. I went to a fantastic doctor here in LA and thank God he was honest enough to tell me my corneas are too thin to have the surgery. Looks like I will be in contacts and glasses for a long long time. But at least he was honest and didn't lie to me, take my money and leave me blind.

Did you see Family Guy? 'Use the force Luke.' Not my idea of fun. I'm sure it's totally safe in many cases, and has worked out just fine, I'd prefer sticking with my glasses; besides... I like how I look in glasses a lot better than without them.
