I'm lost

SEP 26, 2008 06:00 AM

When Sam Rockwell walks into the room and shakes my hand, he looks distractingly like Eric Knox, his nouveau-riche hipster software mogul/villain from the tragically underrated Charlie's Angels. He's also easily distracted by the assorted bric-a-brac on the conference table -- my tape recorder, a bowl of candy, mini-sodas, etc. -- but despite our mutual distractions, we soon get down to business to discuss Choke, the new film adaptation of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk's book, that's been picking...

just came back from the movie and what a surprize and interview with Ryan stewart!!!!
he did and amazing job playing Victor, I really understood what he was saying by not always going for the laughs because at points in the movie he would do some thing that scene that would normally be funny (in any other comedy type movie) But the way he would do it make you laugh in your head but not out loud, and at other times i couldnt stop laughing.

I just can believe he never read a Chuck Palahniuk book before this role...i am always blown away when people tell me they have never heard or read anything by this man.. Chuck is on of the most amazing authours of our time...

great interview by the way..

I just watched the trailer and was disappointed. I know most movies are usually nothing like the book, but I still always hold out a little hope. Sigh...

Had to call bullshit on the opinion that the film really "follows the material fathfully". The HELL it does. It sucks out most of the best parts of the book, just really doesn't capture the essence. I did NOT leave the theater feeling fulfilled in the slightest, and I'm sure I won't be the first. I'd be hard pressed to find any non-Chuck reader, that would even make sense of this. I don't believe it will stand alone.

Have to say i completely agree with this..

i read the book and i LOVED the book.. so i was pretty excited when this movie came out.. saw it the other nite.. the theatre was practically empty.. and i think the movie followed pretty good, very enjoyable overall.. except i saw some major 'flaws' i guess... things that shouldnt of been left out. .for pure comedy and enjoyments sake..

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

1. why was denny so fat in the movie? In the book he is described as snot nosed skinny kid, who started gaining some weight towards the end. Seems like they chose an actor who was a wanna-be Seth Rogan.

2. why was victors mom so fat in the movie? in the book she is described as frail, weak, barely even lifting the bedsheets, and skinny, almost dying.

3. WHY THE HELL DID HE END UP WITH PAIGE IN THE END?! wtf hollywood ending is that??? Paige was sent from the future to be impregnated by a male specimen to bring back his DNA to the future for testing. They left ALL that out.. which i thought was pretty important to show how crazy 'Dr. Marshall' really was.

4. Why did they leave out the scene talking about all the different crazy sexoholics that go to the meetings? Like the guy who got the wine bottle stuck up his ass, the girl who got the barbie doll head stuck up her vagina, the guy who puts his semen on the deposit evenlopes at the ATMs.

5. Why didnt they describe more medical terms? In the book he was always going on and on about how small afflictions could be large medical problems..

6. Why didnt the' saviors' all catch him in the end after he was on tv and almost stone him to death and tear down the structure that they were building? Also.. why didnt they show the house filling up with rocks? Denny had filled the house up with shitloads of rocks before moving them to the empty lot.

7. why didnt they explain more that the lost anal bead was plugging up his digestive tract, so he was scared to eat, and his stomach was getting all bloated from being so full of shit. They just showed the scene with the anal bead.. (which actually took place at his house.. not in a bathroom stall) then they kinda showed his stomach getting fatter and gurgly.. that is.. if you paid enough attention to that small detail.

8. They changed the childhood flashbacks majorly.. His mom didnt release animals from the zoo by cutting the cages open.. she threw a bunch of LSD pills to the monkeys. She was also kind of a prostitute.. and always had blood trickling from her nose.

I guess.. there was lots of scenes i REALLY thought were great in the book, that i was hoping they wouldnt leave out in the movie.. and they changed and/or omitted a lot of those scenes.. which kind of disappointed me.. but all in all.. i thought it was a pretty good film. Sam Rockwell is the shiznit.

Sam Rockwell is an amazing actor. He's in my favourite film "Lawn Dogs" - and really makes the movie.
Not to mention he gets naked and he is prettttty damned buff wink
Do fancy this one quite a bit biggrin
