Most films me and the better half have got on blu-ray have looked awesome.
50" HD telly, PS3 and a new film on blu-ray. Winner (Wall-E looked ace!). I haven't really noticed the load time...
One film I got on blu-ray and it looked shite was the Crow. You really don't need bad superimposing in high definition...
I would avoid anything that has lo-fi (would it be called that?) filming because it looks crap.

2001: A Space Odyssey looked awesome, as did 300! I'm going to buy Resident Evil: Regeneration when it comes out. biggrin

Note to UK: Zavvi - Administration. Cheap blu-rays I hope, I'm going to see what I can get come payday.

I still prefer the warmth of VHS. These digital formats are so sterile and tinny.

Everything up to 50% at Zavvi tomorrow, including blu-rays. Payday. Unashamed vulturing day. :p
Anyone have any recommendations for good blu-ray movies?
I'm going to see if I can get the Blue Planet box set, that would be brilliant.

Blade Runner in the Ultimate Collector's set (looks like a briefcase). For a 20+ year old movie, the digital restoration is mind blowing.

I've got Wall-E. That was ace on blu-ray. Anything Pixar/Dreamworks was made for blu-ray!

Oooh Blade Runner. I watched that the other day, I don't know why I didn't think of that! Thanks! smile

For all you Blu Ray and HDTV experts.

Is 1080i great on a 32' inch TV.

Most Blu Rays offer 1080p.

I heard that 1080p looks better on anything bigger then a 32' television.

I really wish that wasn't still on "Short Wait". I want to see it so bad on Blu Ray.

Honestly? At 32" or less, you're probably not going to notice the difference between i and p

My tv is 50", 1080p resolution, but the PS3 is 1080p/60 instead of 1080p/24 which is what blu-ray is.
It still looks bad ass though, regardless.
And that stuff makes very little sense to me.

Help to explain this in simpleton terms would be lovely? Not all of it, but over halfway down it talks about HDMI being the conduit for 1080p?
My head hurts a little at this article... surreal

They're using overly fancy language to say that HDMI is awesome.

thats a really old article....ps3's will now display in 24hz for blu-ray films. I believe that was back in update 2.5 or something. I personally don't use it just because it makes the films look fake and I'm displaying on a 42in 1080p panasonic plasma so the difference is noticeable. and HDMI is awesome as long as you have optical out audio wink.

Indeed. You can get 1080p out of the Component connection (Pb,Pr,Y) as well, but HDMI is the best. Come to think of it, why the fuck am I using HDMI for my 720p HD cable box and not my PS3? Oh, right, I'm a moron. tongue

One of the girls I'm messing around with right now got me a PS3 for X-mas and The Dark Knight looks fantastic with the Imax scenes in there. Great stuff! Even Get Smart had like an hour of extra scenes and stuff which is fun if you like Steve Carrell. I'm gonna cop the Blu-Ray player that works with Netflix next Friday. That is the ultimate in the sense of just being able to download whatever movie right into you player. It's like having their whole catalog as your own private library!!!

I was engaged to my boy before I bought him a PS3! Ha!

The Dark Knight does look amazing on blu-ray.
