Like millions of people in my generation I discovered Monty Python as a teenager in the 1980's staying up late on Sunday nights watching MTV. Even though the BBC produced thousands of hours of comedy only the best ended up in America such as Monty Python's Flying Circus and The Young Ones. Each member of the Python sketch comedy team had their own voice and it was often immediately recognizable. None of them seemed to enjoy themselves on the show as much as Eric Idle.

Eric Idle is best known as...

I saw his show last month. It was okay, but most of it wasn't terribly impressive. He seemed to like my quoting of his Transformers: The Movie lines, though.

Wow. Didn't expect that to be lame.

Note: Eric Idle bombed pretty bad on Real Time w/ Bill Maher.

Those guys made my crazy friends what comedians they are today, and also helped me make friends thru mutual Python appreciation. I owe those people so much, and I love Eric! kiss

Eric idle is awesome. I saw his last tour a few years ago and it was great. his show here was cancelled which sucks. I been a huge fan since i was 10 years old after seeing the quest for the holy grail. His book The road to Mars is pretty good. HE IS GOD! the best python *wink wink nudge nudge* He is such an adorable handsome man! love love

Eric Idle is best known as Sir Robin who ran away, the man who loved the machine that goes beep and of course as the ghost who lived in Stuart Pankin's attic in the sitcom Nearly Departed.

i can't believe no one has obsessively corrected this yet.

it was the machine that goes PING! and it was michael palin who loved it so much.

Eric Idle is like a father to me. Monty Python was such a groundbreaking project, comedy now would not be the same without it.

I saw Eric Idle perform at Carnege Hall a few years ago. It was totally random, I dropped my friend Hippy off there and was using the payphone outside the theatre and someone walked up to me and offered my other friend and I his extra tickets. I said I didn't have any money and he walked away. A few minutes later, the guy came back over and said that it would be no fun to watch the show alone, so we should join him. It was a great fucking show.

one of THE MOST funniest guys in the whole world. i loved him The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen(sp?). he's consistently cracked me up in everything i see him in. but that movie was my favorite. the funniest guys are so the hottest love love

edited to say that this is too weird: i'm sitting here debating whether to turn in and i'm flipping through the channels. and there's this really bad show on called suddenly susan on and who do i see but the man himself: erick idle. now i have to watch it just cause he's on it. and yes... he's funny as hell already. biggrin
