The Bridge... About Golden Gate Bridge suicides.

It's both scary and very sad how people resort to a end their lives.

I've always wanted to see that. I hope it won't make me ill, though.

good choice. saw the broadway show based on it. amazingly good.

but 'the thin blue line' will always top my list. any movie that gets an innocent man off death row has got to be great. plus, errol morris is kind of god when it come to documentary film making in my book.

I absolutely loved Devil's Playground

It's about the time in an Amish teens life they are encouraged to partake in our more 'sinful' behavior

Also I was fascinated by You're Gonna Miss Me

About Roky Erickson and his drug addiction/schizophrenia. It's just an amazing peek into a truly insane person's life with an incredible soundtrack, as he was the front man for the 13th Floor Elevators.

edited to add, I just noticed Jena mentioned You're Gonna Miss Me, so I guess I am just giving another vote for it wink

It could use another vote. The greater bulk of it is about the damage of the entire family, though. Totally crushing, heartbreaking, raw. I couldn't recommend this enough.

I never got to see all of Devil's Playground but I was engrossed in what I saw. I've only heard really good things.

I'll look for you b/c I can't remember the name, but there's another documentary about suicides reguarding the GG. It was very informative. Gimme a few to find it. smile

I'll check that out I'm really fascinated about that bridge.

And as for the jumpers I understand why they jump from it.
Obviously it's quick, effective, fast and probably painless.

Aside from that it's such a beautiful site. That you'll see on your last few seconds on earth.

I believe The Joy of Life mentions statistics to the contrary. I seem to recall hearing about people who survived with broken limbs.

I liked "The Bridge," too ... partly because the structure itself stands right over there and partly because the movie was so eerily filmed, with the fog rolling in.

Yeah I loved that creepy scene. If I ever go to the GGB. I'll have to be there for the fog. In some kind of way it seemed like the walkway to Heaven.

Anyways Eric Steel had to address this to us in some kind of media way. That these suicides really do occur on that bridge.

It's not always bright and happy all the time. Like we see in pictures and background shots in movies, tv shows, etc.

Filth and the Fury ...for anyone wanting the real story of the sex Pistols.
..... Triumph of the Will ....which is not really a documentary , nor is it really a propaganda film.It is sort of in between. Anyone interested in film needs to watch it, as every influential filmmaker has taken something from it. Don Lett's "Punk rock movie " along with D.O.A. , some of the best documented footage of the 70s UK punk scene around.
