Damn, is anyone else forced to listen to crappy music at work? Hammering nails and listening to Michael Bolton do not mix. I swear, if my boss keeps on serving that crap up I am going to punch him in the face ...again.

funny, recently a co-worker who has no clue about music kept playing this 'alternative 80's' net station at work, and it was mostly industrial and such, like skinny puppy, ministry and other great stuff like sisters of mercy, and siouxsie & the banshees. I just kept my mouth shut and let it ride, then a few days later, my boss walked in while 'thieves' was playing, and freaked out. it was a good ride while it lasted though. now we listen to 70's folk music.

we have to play the CD's we sell. it probably wouldn't be so bad, but we only have about 4 or 5 different ones in rotation. most of it isnt that bad, or it's easy to block out (old jazz and swing crooners mostly), but it gets way repetitive and some of the albums downright suck.

for fun, i put one of the more tolerable songs on repeat, just to see how long it would take for ANYONE to notice that they're listening to the same song over and over. the boss didn't notice until halfway into the shift after mine (mine was 7 hrs.) and customers that sat for 2 and a half hours didn't say a word to us or each other about it. it was absolutely mind boggling.

At work this summer the same 8 songs played over and over and over every fucking day. Thankfully I was allowed to wear my discman. But still...having to listen to 50 Cent for 4 months...even if just in the background...

We used to be under the thumb of my bosses musical taste, mostly european techno, think Ibiza, but he lost interest controling the cd player awhile back. Which was good since if I heard another song with a beat going "doog, doog, doog" for hours on end I was going to have to kill. So now the receptionist controls all, we have fantastically similier tastes in music so I have no complaints.

i work in central pennsylvania. my bosses like to listen to country non-stop. *sigh* my sisters at home listen to it too, so i'm pretty used to it...but a change would really be nice.

Nope. We get to listen to whatever we want in the warehouse, as long as it isn't too loud. My boss likes to play 101 The Fox up front, which is KC's station for classic 70s bands. It's pretty good.

I got to bring in whatever I wanted, but the rest of the coworkers would probably run, scream, and report me to police if I played Wumpscut, Vivaldi, and Darkthrone in the same rotation (in fact, one of my coworkers was devoutly Jewish). So, we usually listened to some Led Zeppelin or classic jazz - nothing bad about either IMO.
