So, honest question, how many of you have DVRs? I'm curious because I got my first TiVo in early 2000, so it's been a good eight years now since I've watched commercials (for better or worse). For those that do, do you still play them? Do you skip them unless they catch your eye? For those that don't, can I assume the reason is financial? If not, then why?

I didn't have one until I moved because Jody already had one. I could just never afford it and most of the TV I watched was via torrents because I was never around when my shows were on. Now, I skip commercials when I remember that I have a DVR but most of the time they play through because I'm so used to them.

I don't have a DVR, but I also don't watch TV on a broadcast basis (whether that broadcast be over the air or cable network or satellite). I recalled just how annoying commercials were when I stayed with my grandparents briefly a couple weeks back. Yeesh. Glad I'm done with that.

I have a dvr and usually let the commercials run through because I use that time to get up and be productive so I don't feel so guilty for sitting there all mindless in front of Army Wives or Ghosthunters.

Or alternately I zoom through them because it is rare that the baby lets me sit there and actually watch an entire hour's worth of television.

the one about his dream girl pisses me off even more. So she's his dream girl, but he would have dumped her like a sack of hot potatoes if he had known she had bad credit? Way to go, dude.

I noticed the same thing and was similarly irritated by it.

I know I always ask the girl's credit score before getting involved. It's just the smart thing to do.

This is why I love not owning a television.

I think that's really how he got bad credit in the first place. Identity theft? More like late night e-bay frenzy!

I have one through my cable company. I'll fast forward through commercials of things that I've recorded, but I can't be bothered to pause live TV long enough to be able to skip commercials. Actually, sometimes even when I am watching something I've recorded, I forget that I am watching a recording and wind up waiting through the commercials.
