The Gmail widget wasn't even there ... I tried to add it to see if that would jumpstart a refresh. It's been sitting there "loading" ever since.

Okay, this is just fucking weird. I cleared the cache, restarted Firefox and now I have this ...
It updated the freakin' color, but I'm still having the no load/no clicky bullshit.

Hmm... sounds like an Ajax fuckup to me- either your widgets aren't able to make server requests, or your browser isn't able to accept the data being served. You may want to try it in a different browser and see if there's any difference. I'd also download the Firefox extension HTTPFox- that way you can see if data's being passed through to you.
