What's going on with Angel?

I know they wanted to go off in a new direction and all, but I want Spike
to start kicking ass again, and Spike isn't Spike without a cigarette in his
hand. And is it just me or is Angel looking a bit puffy these days? I didn't
know Vampires could gain weight. Must be all the free blood from Wolfram
and Hart. And they seem to have too many supporting characters now. And
it's been more lighthearted than usual so far this season. But I still like the
show, just a lot of changes. What do you all think? Or do you not like the
show at all?

I watched it for the first time last night, I'd never heard of it before. I thout it was completely stupid, but also kind of rad (in a fluffy, bad mood after work brain relaxer).

I fuckin' hate that show.

Yeah, Boreanaz has gotten fat. But vampires can get fat. I think. Remember that big fat demon-vampire from Blade?

Either way, I haven't watched that show since after they got the whole Fred situation settled down.

I love the show. Last night was a major departure from anything they've done before. It was so dumb that I sort of enjoyed it. I just like that the Buffyverse is still alive and kicking. There were some good moments, but overall, I thought it was a weird episode.

I want Spike to have more screen time. He has second billing on the credits (I believe), but he only comes in to say witty quips and then leaves. I want more Spike!! Of course, that would be unfair to the long time cast members. James Marsters is such a great actor. It's a shame to his his talent go untapped on this show. They could do sooo much more with the relationship between him and Angel. For me, Buffy and Angel have always been about the relationships between the characters and the battle between the light and dark sides of humanity. Angel feels a bit fluffy and surfacy to me lately. I'm still waiting for those moving moments that Joss is known for creating.

I never thought Angel was hot & sexy, and now he is looking old and haggard. I can deal with a haggard looking Spike because I like his character, but Angel has always been a selfish whiner. I like the supporting cast better than I like him.

Yeah, and since when do vamps age?

I'm annoyed spike is a ghost. when they fix that I'll probably really get into it again.

they should have left him alone. I think brining him back cheapens his character and screams "desperate" on Joss Wheadon's part.

spike had a kick ass death scene in buffy, they shouldn't have brought him back. but in all fairness i aint sean Angel in ages, that green dude with the horns that looks like a reject from star trek kinda made it too craptastic for me.... i prefer the storylines in Angel though.

I like "Angel" more than "Buffy" thou Im not around a tv when its on anymore.

Spike is soooooooooooo annoying. He was super cool when he first came on Buffy. He was just awesome. Heck, he was even awesome on season 4. But then he started mooning over Buffy, and then he RAPED Buffy, and during the rape scene? They went to a fucking Burger King commercial in the middle of the attempted rape scene. That is fucking horseshit.

I loved this week's episode because I love El Santo. I grew up watching El Santo and Blue Demon fighting robots and monsters and shit. It's how I learned Spanish when I was leetle. Go go! Go go! Go go! Go, El Santo, go!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!

I just want Spike to go the fuck away and for Jeffrey Bell to write every episode. Last season, when he started writing episodes, was fucking AWESOME. "The Magic Bullet" was such a great episode. Yeeeeeaaahhh.

call me crazy but i'm loving it this season. i'm glad joss has just a single show to focus on, for awhile the quality was bouncing back and forth from show to show... i stopped watching when angel's son got kidnapped and etc... bleah. maybe i missed something cool, but i don't really care. i couldn't take it.

on the other hand, i despised the geek trio, but when i caught the ending of that season(when angel started to suck) i caught tara's death and some badass stuff ater that. hella good. then buffy was good when it started up again, and then i think i stopped watching angel at all due to quality slippage...

but anyways. buffy had a great ending, and now that josss is a one-trick-pony again, angel is back to the awesome. i think it works better when it's lighthearted, as long as it's not ALL laughs. there's still plenty of moodiness, but not so much it's just depressing.

i think it's badass that spike is still a ghost. kudos to them for not undoing it at the end of the episode.

do we really need two vampires with souls? how interesting can spike be if he's just another goody goody bloodsucker?

Well it does make the whole Shonshu thing a bit more interesting. I wouldn't be surprised to see some Spike/Angel competition by the end of the season, maybe even a homoerotic fight scene.
