yeah but when michael keaton did it, it was more subtle. It dident NOT sound like michael keaton. The bat voice in dark knight was too much.

Agreed. This was the one thing that bothered me.

Completely agree as well. His voice took me out of the movie but it's a rather minor complaint. His portrayal of Bruce Wayne was the best of all the Batman movies though.

I have to say it again, Heath Ledger made the movie and Harvey Dent, I couldn't have pictured it any better.

Maggie G. eh, she's pretty to look at.

I believe his embelished voice is also a scare tactic for criminals, something to make himself seem more supernatural, therefor the voice completely makes sense. In fact it is one of the best things about this new Batman.

Every thing about the film I'm going to write in a spoiler because its still in the cinema's

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Yes the voice was distracting. But it still worked for the character. Two Face was well done and brilliantly introduced into the film. We don't know if he is dead. So he can come back. I like how Batman gave Lucius the code for destroying the mobile sonar network and re earning his faith. I was disappointed with the Bat Pod. The pencil trick was great. I like the politician\money man getting some when Bruce ran to get changed. But wouldn't they realize Bruce is Batman? Rachael dying was a high point. Batman being in love and having it exploited? It really doesn't work for him. The criminal throwing the detonator out the window was brilliant. Joker needed to have something shown leaving him hanging there didn't work. I know that might have been because Ledger died, but surely they would be a way to shoot it without needing to see Joker's face? Arkham? Even a empty wire hanging there?

Over all I loved the film and think it a amazing sequel to Batman Begins. kiss

I avoided looking at this thread till i had seen the film but I wouldn't feel good about ruining any aspect of it for someone who hasn't seen it it's why it's all in spoiler.

I saw it again at IMAX. What a huge format that is. Sometimes too big for its own good. The rumble seats were cool though!

Just saw it for the third time...

Honestly the movie was good and it kind of dragged.

Probably because you knew what was going to happen.

And the whole Ferry scene wasn't that great.

But man Heath's performance NEVER GETS OLD.

The movie might but NOT Heath.

About Heath or just the movie overall?

That's the last time I see the whole thing at theaters.

I'll wait for the DVD now.

I guess the bat voice is a complaint being heard nationally.

I mean it got on my nerves a bit but I didn't think there would bepress about it.

The only thing that really annoyed me about the batman voice was at the end when he sounded like Drunk Batman. I hear there was some post production on the voice. "Frequency Modulation," whatever they think that means. I assume they mean it was pitch-shifted a bit.

And the coin thing could have been handled a little better, i.e., don't reveal that the other side is scratched right away. Wait for him to flip it.

But I really can't find a lot to complain about otherwise. What was wrong with the guys talking about the bank robbery in the beginning? Just sounded like some guys on the job bullshitting to me.

The beginning was was a little too comic book, but I liked it. Bats "low voice" was a bit silly, but these two things aren't what really bothered me. One, I still don't buy Harvey going evil. Yes, I understand why, and there were little hints at his anger before, but still, it seemed like a stretch for his character to team up with Joker and threaten to shoot kids. Never bought it. Two, what was up with the bullet thing? Where Bats shoots a bunch of wood blocks, reassembles a bullet, and finds the fingerprints somehow. Then there was the whole, "I have sonar on everybody" thing at the end, both seemed like some lazy writing to me. Otherwise, the movie was pretty fuckin impressive.

Oh yeah, I was sort of confused about how he managed to install the sonar thing on everyone's phones over a weekend. I could see if it was something that was already there or whatever, but they definitely made it seem like something Morgan Freeman had just invented.

Bending the gun barrel in the beginning was a little ridiculous. They play a little "device in use" sound when he does it, but I'm not seeing it. Of course that's a little thing.

that sonar thing seemed a bit like the whole invasion of piracy thing Bush was doing, which was such a hot issue.Which is why Fox found it morally wrong that Batman should be able to look in on everyones private life. Also I read that article about the voice thing which seems to upset everyone so much.Get over it,they did it in the Warner cartoon to enhance his dark side.Think about it,he trie to sound darker for a supernatural effect upon criminals as well as disguise his Bruce Wayne costume.Batman is fucked up,he is quite psychotic ,and probably talks like that in his head.

They show the device latter in that scene, remember? He uses it to cling to the van, then nearly gets killed because it won't detach, and he pops it off with some pneumatic noise? But yeah, at first, I thought bullshit too... it was still kinda cool.

Yeah, I get the whole "invasion of privacy" riff, but it just seemed a) totally unrealistic b) lazy writing. Like...

Gee Bob, how the hell is he going to find the Joker?

Well Steve, remember that other thing we wrote to get him in the Asian dude's building which was already just some shit we made up? We'll do it for everyone in Gotham and he'll just find the Joker that way.

Oh, well why the fuck didn't he use it in the beginning?

Remember that bullshit bullet thing we did earlier? Everyone bought that! No one will ask these questions! We'll try to make some statement on Bush while we're at it.

Sweet!

Yes, Bats is psychotic and they did it in the cartoon, but it sounds silly in live action. There are some things you change when you go to film, because they just don't work when brought to life, which is why the movie was so good in the first place, they changed the right things to make it more believable. Ultimately though, I didn't think it was a big deal, it's not like Bat Nipples or anything.

Did you miss the part where he's fully aware of how bad it is? He only uses it after the Joker has driven him to the point of desperation. And the microwave generator from Batman Begins is far less believable than the sonar from Dark Knight.

I don't care if he realized it was bad, it seemed like a lazy, unbelievable plot device. I don't remember the microwave generator, so I have no comment on that. I wish Batman did some clever detective work, or had some puzzle to solve, or something that gave us an excuse to see more into Joker's world, but instead it was "hey, I got this program thing" and *bam* there Joker is. Lame!

On the other hand, I remember why he didn't use it right away, it was Morgan Freeman's idea, and he expanded it, off screen, later in the movie.

So I just got the shooting script at Borders..

And it's really cool. It's kind of different than the movie.

I mean there's are different alternate takes on lines.

And cut scenes, Like 20 year cop punches The Joker in the gut in the inter. room.

When I bought it I thought it was written directly like in the movie.

But it's the original screenplay, really cool!

Here it is.. http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0789318121

Wasn't the Bat Voice explained in the first film as a distortion device built into his costume?

Yay internet piracy! Have you met Stockula? You guys should join forces and be SGs greatest Troll tag-team.

It's a "big screen" movie and best seen there. Unless you have a $50,000 theater in your basement, you'll miss a lot of the feel of the movie.
