I'm lost
July 2003

I got in this argument one weather or not it is wrong to kill spiders if they are in your house. For me it's the simple justification, they would try to kill me if I was in their house. Think of it like this: Some guy comes in your house without permission, sets up a tent in your livingroom, and then bites you in the middle of the night while looking for water. Now that being said, I have a great respect/fascination for spiders. I obsess over spider documentaries, like I am uncontrolably compelled to watch them. I don't touch spiders if they are outside, infact I feel bad if I accidentally kill them outside, but if they come into my house THEY FUCKING DIE. I just find it oddly compelling that something so creepy and inherently evil can be so undeniably necessary. Am I wrong here?

you arent wrong
i smack the hell out of them if they are in my domain.
if im in theirs i live them alone, unless they are on the way in to the house, then i scoot them out. except that one time i sprayed one with hairspray
to watch it freeze like a wasp will.
but i like to pour salt on slugs too

oh the inhumanity.

the way i see it, im just helping them along their way on the karmic wheel...course im setting myself back....

Unless they are near my bed. I let them live. They kill all the other nasty bugs in the house. There is nothing more satisifing than watching a roach struggle in a web...HAHAHAHA

It may be wrong for some guy to set up a tent in the middle of your house, but isn't that a small price to pay for him eating all the other freeloaders that vomit in your food and lay eggs in your face?

I have always been one to just carry them outside. Until, that is, I moved to the Northwest. Now I have my first basement, and the damn spiders are everywhere. Including these nasty hobo spider fellows that apparrently have a bite on par with a brown recluse. So now I'm in the squish-squish club.

i fought a wolf spider the size of my fist in a no-holds-barred match of hand-to-hairy legged combat.. he went down like a ton of bricks when i shot it in the face with upholstery cleaner.

This made me laugh biggrin

As for myself, if they are in my domain, I'll kill them. Esp, if they are huge.

Everyone of you see spiders as terrifying monsters. But maybe, just maybe it is YOU who are the true monsters!

Even the smallest spec of a spider makes me scream hysterically and bounce across the room like a 3 year old with no rydolin and a 4 foot pixy stick. Ok I have to go shower now .. I feel them crawling all over me .. damn you all blackeyed

I had a non-violent relationship with a spider inside my house once. She stayed up in the sky light mostly and caught flys and stuff. I liked her and I felt she respected my space at the same time. I thought of her as maybe an exception to the rule, but one morning I woke up, and there was a spider bite on my leg, and I saw a spider on the wall next to my bed and I killed it. I later noticed the one spider was no longer in my skylight, and I feel that a part of me died.

Earwigs tunnel into your brain and control your mind, but indoor centipedes are just dandy. They eat cockroaches, and anything that eats cockroaches always has a seat in my VIP lounge.

I would kill them if i weren't so freaking scared of them.

I kill all bugs that are in my domain, unless they are cute ones like moths.

My sweetie catches them for me, and then he takes them outside. I am too terrified to even try to squish them. Crawly critters are fine outside, but inside is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

for a while I just left them in the corner, thinking they'd eat small flies, but usually they just die for hunger, so I take them with some piece of paper and throw them outside.

I kill only flies and green bugs.

anyway, spiders here are small and not dangerous, they can be quite useful. one year we had an abundance of an esotic gray fly really annoying, and I saw a spider out my balcony had 20+ empty bodies of those in the web, so quite a nice spider

I don't know why, but I just like spiders a lot and I don't have the heart to kill them. I always bring them outside or let them be if I can't catch them.
