"That's terrible," Dave Mustaine says to me, his eyes fixed on my sleeveless, inked forearm. "I'm looking at your tat. I get it. A musician broke your heart." Not quite... Well, wait... Yes. One did. I shift in my seat; the Megadeth frontman has just outed me. I resist the urge to move my arm from sight; the tattoo -- a beamed eighth note anchored by two halves of a heart -- is as subtle as a scarlet letter. This wasn't how I expected our conversation to start -- about vulnerability, or about me...

Minor correction: Dave wasn't kicked out of Metallica halfway through recording Kill 'Em All. He was kicked out before they even started recording.

good call. fixed. guess i was thinking writing, not recording process. thanks for the heads up.
cool interview, nice to see Dave on here.
many moons ago he signed an old strat I had and I got to shake his hand
I was like 12, still a fan, hes a beast
Mustaine is an idol of mine. Not only from the music aspect but the shit he has went through in his life. I can remember when I like 10 trading 3 rap CDs for Megadeths Countdown to Extinction. I wore that albumn out and it completely changed my outlook on music. I thought I would never get to see them play live but low and behold I am seeing them on Nov. 20th in Covington, Ky. I can't wait. I've always been a Megadeth fan and always will be.
