Pointing out the US military's racist policies isn't a particularly compelling argument for excluding the contribution of Blacks to the war effort in Hollywood films. Yes. Like I said, the movie is about the heroic exploits of a former Confederate soldier waging a one-man war against evil Yankee invaders. Incidentally, the incident in the film references an actual event, in which no women or children were ever killed by US troops. The Confederate unit that Wales was in also actually existed. They were infamous for slaughtering civilians and mutilating the bodies of Union soldiers and sympathizers.
