I've noticed a definite pattern:

In the Big Cuddly Boys group, most of the members gripe about how they're afraid to ask girls out, or they're sick of being single, and so on, and they blame it all on their weight. I've seen a few tips regarding diets, but it's a fairly dead group as far as comment rate and member count.

In the Plus Sized Women group, almost every single girl has a "fuck them" attitude, even if they've been single for two or three years. They love their bodies, they showcase them, and they offer support to other women who are trying to lose weight. It's an extremely active group (probably because we never shut up), and the member count is huge. This is probably because it's a group dedicated to women's bodies and has naked photosets, but still... wink

I wish the larger boys would become as confident as the girls. I think a lot of it is due to books and movies and such that try to empower overweight women and make them realize they can be sexy too. I don't see that for men. If a man is heavy, it gets downplayed, and that sort of annoys me. I know a lot of women who like cuddly guys, so I wish the boys could be proud of their bodies and not be afraid to say so.

[rant]

Trivializing the discussion wasn't really my intent...

or maybe it was.

So many internet conversations take two paragraphs to say what needs to be said in twelve... and while I like the idea of the thread this is one of those.

[ mad @ me] Sorry... i'm being a message board elitest and I should hate myself for it... [/ mad @ me]

I haven't really kept up my membership cuz of the groups... the only punk I listen to is Cafe Tacuba.. and i'm member on a enough message boards to waste my time on.. but I very much love these boards and this site (although the multitude of hot chicks also helps) cause I can read threads like this and posts like sorchas....

But talking about the importance of confidence and physical beauty... you could post pages on it if you really wanted to. There are times/people when/whose confidence can go up or down at the drop of a jimmy hat, crossing the street, making eye contact. There are some where you don't even stop to think about confidence. Its not an issue.

Confidence itself needs definition to be discussed. You say 'confidence is sexy' and it is... but WHY? WHAT is confidence? There are times when i've ACTED confident and felt totally shitty inside and times when i've acted totally shitty and been the picture of confidence.... what is confidence? Is it all smoke and mirrors? Is it someone who is comfortable with themselves and their surroundings? Cause I could take any one of you to a place where you'd no longer be comfie. Does that then mean you have no confidence?

Forgive me for rambling, for 'trivializing' your thread, but the topic question is so huge. It isn't 'hey do you find confidence sexy'.

It touches on society and and personal values, the subconsious, a million things.

So Nescafe the Forum Nazi says puke

Forgive me for critiquing your thread. I give it a 9.5 for Style but only a 5.2 for Mechanics.

If you have a problem with that take it up with the IOC.

And then off to my JOB interview. Wish me luck. Preferabbly of the good variety. eeek eeek eeek

He's got his medal
And silver chain
He's got to turn on
His dancing brain
His shirt's unbuttoned
He looks a fool
The women love him
At least he thinks they do

So fat he seems to find another discoteque
He's ugly but what the heck
Some girls are ugly too
At last the noise and lights around his throbbing head
Let's dance is what he said
It made her spew

His days are numbered
His nights are long
He won't consider
He's done no wrong
The happy dancers
Watch their bodies move
The women assemble
Around the DJ's booth

So fat he seems to find another discoteque
He's ugly but what the heck
Some girls are ugly too
At last the noise and lights around his throbbing head
Let's dance is what he said
It made her spew

Some girls are ugly too
Some girls are ugly too
Some girls are ugly too
Some girls are ugly too

Some girls are ugly too
Some girls are ugly too

LoL. I was going to comment on your post until I saw your name.

It is entirely o.k. to lack confidence. Just don't go without it for too long... its kind of like sex or swimming... you can do without it for a while... but don't overdo it.
