You know who Chuck Palahniuk is; he's inspired a generation of fucked up outsiders and insiders alike. He lit the fuse that sent my imagination projecting forward towards creative bliss and artistic freedom. His reach extends so far that even if people don't know his name, they at least know one of his works. Since Fight Club -- his first published novel -- Palahniuk has grown as a writer and his audience has grown with him, enjoying every second of this wild ride through the world's dirty subconscious.
No such luck. I FedExd some sperm to Ann Coulter only she misinterpreted the gesture and dragged the FBI into the fray. Talk about overreacting. Did I mention that I can't spell?
Even if his books have been on a steady downhill slope for a while, Chuck P still gives the best interviews.
I went to the opening day book signing for Snuff in Ann Arbor, Michigan and it was absolutely awesome! He did and interview and a Q&A before the signing along with a couple competitions to see who could blow up a blow-up doll the fastest. I definitely wasn't disappointed though I was sick and I could barely speak by the time I got to get my book personalized. He was really nice, but I'm sure he was hoping I would take my sickness and get the hell away from him.
I'd also like to say that I was one of the people who sent him fan mail and got a package in response. I actually cried when I opened it. Things were going so terribly for me and the second I came home and saw that this strange box from "Chucky P" was for me I was overjoyed. He really is an amazing man.
Chucky P is one of my favorite authors. He has a very distinct and unique voice.
His Postcards from the Edge documentary remains a constant source of inspiration for me whenever I feel creatively empty. (If you haven't seen it, and you're a fan, get it!! And if you are a writer, get it too! He is full of great advice)
I can't wait to read Snuff. I devoured Rant in matter of days ...and since then have been fighting the urge to stick my appendages into dark, scary holes.
I got a power rhino, which I still have, and an awesome tshirt, i wrote him twice, actually three times, years ago but he never responded back the last time, which was two octobers ago. Gnarly.
I saw him when he was touring for Rant in Toronto. He told an awesome story about a fan letter he recieved involving a miscarried fetus kept in a jar. I'd toally jump his bones if he wasn't gay. Curses!

I love his Fiction but I got Blown Away by his book of offbeat-Journalism - Stranger than Fiction
I particularly was floored by the stories he told about his father, who I am convinced is one of the most tragic human beings to have existed.
Also, if you enjoy Chuck Pahlaniuk. I Highly recommend anything by Warren Ellis. He's like a mix of Chuck, Jack Kerouac, and Hunter S. Thompson. Although he's mostly done Graphic novels, his one Pictureless work "Crooked Little Vein" is an alternatingly harrowing and hilarious romp through America's Psycho-Sexual underground.
I was not expecting this! Chuck is a very real person and whos writings and understanding is just mad mind blowing, i haven't read any books from such a human since Steinback!
