This second one was totally inadvertent, but it still makes for a good story. Apparently a friend of mine was getting ready to hang himself in the garage- note written, chair, rope. I happened to call him with some car problem and ask if he can come grab me and take a look. He stepped down, removed the note, and burned the note. He never told me this until a couple of years later.
