In a previous topic I went down the list of the Seven Deadly Sins to see how many of them God himself is guilty of. The results were not good. According to my count, God is guilty of at least 5 of the Seven Deadly Sins. This time, we're going to see how God does with the new list of Seven Deadly Sins that Pope Palpatine has thrown at us. Here goes...

1. "Bioethical" violations such as birth control... No brainer. Just look at the platypus and Dick Cheney. Major bioethical violations there. Guilty.

2. "Morally dubious" experiments such as stem cell research... God invented stem cells for pete sake! Of course he must've done a bit of stem cell research. Every time he stuffs some fetus full of tasty stem cells he is sinning.

3. Drug abuse... Not so sure about this one. Does God hit the pipe? Does God rail E off of a strippers ass? I don't know. Unless that's what all the praying is for. Does God gets high off of our prayers? And don't forget the communion wine. If that stuff is the blood of God, then he must be wasted 24/7. Guilty again.

4. Polluting the environment... Plenty of trees have been cut down and streams polluted in order to build all of those churches that God wants. Not to mention all the trees that have gone into 2000 years worth of bible printing and christian bumper stickers. And all of those Jesus fish things that people feel compelled to put on their cars, made out of plastic. Plastic pollutes. Also, we can't forget all of the swords and spears and guns that were used to kill the heathens. Mining and manufacturing creates huge amounts of pollution. And burning witches dumps a whole shit load of carbon into the atmosphere. Everybody knows that witches are made almost entirely of carbon. Guilty.

5. Contributing to widening divide between rich and poor... Plenty of people have gotten rich off of the sweat and blood of the poor all in God's name. Every dollar that the church gets is one less dollar for some poor naive S.O.B. Also, God's churches don't pay taxes. Have you ever seen a poor bishop or cardinal? No. Have you ever seen poor church goers? All the freakin time. Guilty yet again.

6. Excessive wealth... Of course the big guy is guilty of this one. Have you ever taken a look at the Vatican? That place is hella swanky. Damn near every church I've ever been in has hit me up for money for God. Don't get me started on the televangelist and millions of dollars they have collected for God. God is rich rich rich. God is so rich I'm sure he can afford to get the next round of drinks.

7. Creating poverty... I'm pretty sure that all of those holy wars that God has endorsed left more than a few people broke and/or homeless. I've got to call this one against God.

There you have it. God is guilty of all of the new and improved Seven Deadly Sins. Maybe they should have stuck with the old ones. He was only guilty of 5 of those with 2 undecided.

note: As someone pointed out in the previous thread, the Seven Deadly Sins are a catholic invention and don't apply to all christian faiths. I have to respectfully disagree with this. While the catholic church did formally write down the list of deadly sins, I'm pretty sure that most christians as well as people of all faiths and no faith find them relevant. I mean, who thinks that Creating Poverty and Polluting the environment are virtuous and right? Not too many. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that most of the people in the world would agree with me that somebody who is jealous, greedy and lazy while abusing drugs, polluting the environment, taking money from the poor is a big douche. That's the thing about the seven deadly sins. While you may not be catholic, they're still pretty relevant to life outside of the church.

I'd love to agree with you, but it seems to me that our economic system runs on exactly that: Creating poverty and polluting the environment.

I can't quite add up how many people that is. But it's a lot.
