Portishead’s pre-Coachella, private rehearsal in L.A. is about to get a lot less private. It’s still daylight but people are lined up for a city block outside the Mayan Theater on downtown’s Hill Street. Inside, the venue is crowded with industry types and journalists -- experienced and sometimes weary veterans of many rehearsals, concerts, and bands -- and even they buzz with anticipation for tonight’s performance. There is a flush of excitement in the air that has become contagious. This is the...

Thanks for this interview. Good questions, and I love his response about meeting the most horrible people in the dance music scene. Haha.

The album 'Third' is more enjoyable with every listen. I think I'll go listen to it again, right now.

Really insightful interview with Barrow--great to hear that the media hasn't gotten the best of them! After reading this interview and hearing the new album "3"--all comes together for me: an electrifying, spine-tingling avante-garde experience as performed by the ARTISTS, not the prefabricated corporate "puppets" of the present trend market. "3" is only given me more respect for Portishead and their art-form, as it remains untainted and preserved. Gotta love Barrow even more for remaining true to his work.

Third is the best album I've heard so far this year. I'm kicking myself for not making it to Coachella.

I preordered their album on iTunes about a week before it came out. My best friend and I have been waiting for their new stuff FOREVER.

seeing them at Coachella was one the most jaw dropping live experiences I have ever had .....truly astonishing. Prince looked like crap after them.

Dummy is weekly listen for me all these years later (and I bought it the day it came out !) Third will definitely be a "grower"

Thanks for the article they come over exactly as I imagine them

*awesome* interview. wow, I mean we don't usually get to hear from the people behind Portishead. This demystifying session taken care of, WOW. Their music is the stronger for their integrity -- and it is still a fucking weird-ass world

Trees make sense, and cows. People get shit all confused, y'know?

Seeing Portishead last year in Montreal will always rank as one of the best shows I have seen. I waited about 16 years to see them. Amazing show set outside with the city as the backdrop. Amazing night and glad I made the trip. I hope to see them again sometime and a new album would be a huge bonus.
