If the book is third-person, the narrator's voice is my own. If there's a lot of dialog, the characters develop voices of their own when they speak. If the book is first-person, the narrator has their own voice.

Usually the characters and narrator have different variations of my own voice, though I'm reading "The Pleasure of My Company" by Steve Martin (again. I love this book) and so when I read it, that's whose voice I hear.

i don't have a lot of time to read books lately, which is extremely unfortunate. don't yell at me about making time, i have to spend most of my free time drawing, so the hands and eyes are already occupied- so i've started going to audiobooks, and it's been a weird transition. especially because the books i started with were ones that i already read that i had wanted to re-read but knew i wouldn't have time for-
and man, that narration was ALL WRONG. so yeah, i guess i hear other people's voices, i just didn't realize before.
since the audiobooks though, i realize that sometimes i'm even reading aloud to myself in other voices... it's weird but kind of cool.

also, i'm not putting down audiobooks, there are a LOT of great readers out there, and a lot of great full-cast productions.
