I believe that ALL Americans, including gays and lesbians, deserve the rights, responsibilities, and privileges that come with marriage. And right now, we have an unprecedented opportunity to make that dream a reality. Please, join me in adding your voice to a million voices raised in support of civil marriage for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples at http://www.millionformarriage.org

This week, it's especially important that we reach 200,000 signatures - right-wing extremists are lobbying Congress right now during their so-called "Marriage Protection Week." Please, help drown out their anti-GLBT voices!

Thanks to spiky for keeping me ontop of things

I think the whole situation is pretty dumb. Love is love, after all, why deny it? Here is hoping some will not be so closed minded.

Oh well. Signed.

The Christians say that gays shouldn't marry because it's a religious institution.
The goverment says you get all of these benifits from being married; better rates for insurance, spousal medical benifits, family rights at the hospital, right to sign for medical treatment and I'm sure there is more.

Then fine, make Marrige a religious institution and make a legal partnership for those of us who are in unconventional relationships. I have been happily unmarried to the same man for 16 almost 17 years. We are not religious and will never get married, it is to us a religious thing. This puts us in a similar position with our gay friends. Luckily his last boss a lesbian treated us like a long term gay couple and we had partner health insurance. Not everone thinks this way. Yes as a male/female couple we do have the option of getting married. But yet again it is to us a religious ceremony.

I feel we need to change the rulew to include a new partnership statius.

i think reality tv shows ruin the institution of marriage far more than people in love who just happen to be outside the christian gender box.
