There is not shit from Iowa to California. There is the biggest truckstop outside of Davenport, Iowa though. Don't know if I'd call that cool though. The salt flats are home to some really cool graffiti too. People set up rocks along the road to spell things out. Oh yeah, past Nebraska when signs say no gas for x amount of miles...BELIEVE THEM. Watch the weather too. The mountains can get a lot of snow suddenly and they will close the interstate and you'll be stuck. Cheyenne to Laramie can be a bad stretch. I did it at night when it was blowing rain and snow....

if you split off I80 to I70 through Denver (safer than going through Wyoming this time of year) - do NOT go through Soldier Summit on US6. it looks like a shortcut, but i've nearly died there twice - if it wasn't a freak ice storm it was a marauding clan of hillbillies at a rest area. fuck that. drive the extra hour and take I15 up to Salt Lake and then do I80 through Reno and Sacramento.

If you take the 80 through Nebraska and go northwest when you hit Ogallala, you will eventually come across Alliance, Nebraska -- home of CARHENGE!!!!!!!

CARHENGE is a replica of the famous Stonehenge in England made completely out of deceased automobiles. It is aligned identically to Stonehenge with respect to celestial landmarks (i.e. the North Star, the ecliptic, etc.). Also, during each solstice, the "Carhenge Druids" come out to worship and make sacrifices.

I swear to you, I am not making any of this up.
