What does your screenname mean to you?

I've been wondering this a lot lately, mostly due to WaTed. Everytime I see his name, I read it "Wetahded," first. Not because I'm stupid, but because that's the connection I make from WaTed. So I wonder if that's what that name means, or if it's just an inside joke of some sort (which is, I gather, what most people's screennames are). So, why your screenname? Why that one for here? I know this has been done before, but it was a long time ago. So answer the question again!

My name comes from the fact that I thought I was signing up to a porn site. My usual name for signing up to porn sites is, "themadking," or "madking," generally because porn sites don't allow more than eight or ten characters. If I had read the directions and figured out that I could have 16 characters, my name would have been, "themadkingludwig."

That name comes from a bad fanfic I was reading that was being made fun of, in fanfic MST3K style (referred to as "MiSTing"). It was just a comment, that led to research, that led to a new cool name.

I was just getting over that name in favour of the name, "Cornelius" (which I had been using on name-tags for a year or two, in situations where I didn't care to know anyone but I had to wear a name-tag, or when I wanted to wear a name-tag) )when I signed up for this site. As cornelius was already taken, I fell back to me old porn standby, "themadking." If I had waited just a day or two longer, I would have signed up under the name, "inspectedby23." Not that any of this means anything to anyone.

So, what does your name mean to you? And Bobby, why'd you have to steal mine?

Not that I sign up to a lot of porn sites, mind you. Um... yeah.

I used to be Trypnotik. I made it up a few years ago when I used to take a lot of acid. I decided I didn't like it anymore when I joined this site. When I started meeting people here and nobody could pronounce it right. Plus I wanted people to referr to me by my real name anyway.

when my roomate and I first shared a computer, and an AOL account, I reccomended Doppelganger as a screen name. Then I was pissed that I didn't use it, so here's my chance. (although as he remembers it, he chose it because it's the title of his favorite Curve album)

Well, I wasn't referring to you easily-figured-out types. It's obvious that you are the son of God and Mister Satan is your adversary, and all this is leading up to an apocalyptic battle of Good versus Evil that will leave only one side the true, clear victor once and for all.

I meant some of the less easy to explain names, such as Skryche, or Keith (really, where did he think up that name?). That's all.

Interesting. I never really knew much about doppelgangers, except if you actually saw yours, it meant you were about to die...

As to the topic, I look a bit like Spike...

I like the Americanized meaning of doppelganger, meaning someone who looks like someone else as part of some conspiracy or another. At least, that's the meaning that I find in a lot of novels. About doppelgangers. From America.

That Keith one has me stumped too

I chose mine cause of the Soft Cell song of the same name, worth a dl if you don't know it. For a long time for me it was one of those songs you don't know the name of and don't expect to find out the song ever. I also use it in alot of other places, and is not because of of some sort of sexual disfunction, small penis syndrome just sounds funny but isn't a real disfunction.

I like water, and I daydream a lot.
