Now, for chips (which are different from nachos only in that they come in a basket and nachos come in a bowl) it's salsa.

I like a little frijoles refritos, myself. But maybe that's a little unwieldy.

It's a draw between cheese and frijoles. Just not a Nacho without both. Although I do LOVE guacamole with them. MMMM yummy.

I'm going to be a rebel and call sour cream. I could eat that stuff from the tub.

I think nacho cheese is the very essence of the "nachos" experience. Think about it. Why else would it be called "nacho" cheese? Does "nacho" cream make sense? Or perhaps "nacho"mole? No! The answer is obvious...those who disagree are simply in denial...now if you'll pardon me I must go slam my head in the refrigerator door...

Nacho cheese. JUST cheese. Any further toppings beyond chips+nacho cheese are un-American.

To be actual nachos, the bare minimum requirement is cheese and jalapenos. Otherwise you're just dealing with tortilla chips. In fact, if you're a purist that's all that should go on.

That said, give me guacamole and refried beans!

just ain't a nacho without chili, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, jalapenos, sour cream, guac...i like my nachos to test the strength of my biceps.
