I just saw "Like Water for Chocolate" in my Latin American Resistance class and I liked it. I know it is a number of years old, and if I remember correctly, is supposed to be a 'chick flick', but I thought it was a good all around movie. Anybody else like it?

"Like Water..." used to be one of my favorite movies. i haven't seen it in a few years, but i'm sure that, even if it didn't quite ignite me as it used to, i would still really enjoy it. i'll chalk my love up to a) the fact that it relates food and emotion (i philosophize a lot about food) and b) the fact that it's about secret, passionate love, something that i also enjoy.

i read the book that it was based on. unfortunately, a lot of it seems to be ripped straight from Gabriel Garc’a M‡rquez. i think i like the movie better, even though the book includes recipes.

i like it when you're "doing it" and you suddenly burst into flames. spontaneous human combustion is what sex is all about.

I've never been able to parse that sentence fragment...

  • What is CocoAqua? It's, like, water for chocolate!

If you enjoyed that movie you might like another one called "Tortilla Soup". The stories are different but they both have many scenes centered around food preparation.
I used to hang out with some chefs and could never get enough of watching them cook... it's so fucking sexy!!!!!!!! yum yum

I watched that movie in highschool for spanish class. The thing I rememember most was this kid in my class, Josh Duksin, made the funniest remark about it. There was an old lady, named Nacha, in the movie. Well, the teacher had the volume quite low on the tv, so Josh said(and you have to understand Josh was a kid who was jacked to obvilion on ritalin all the time, and was also very pedantic, yet outspoken), so Josh said,"Excuse me, I can not hear the movie. Could you please turn it up a Nacha!"

we all lost our shit!!!

Ahhhhh, when you spend your highschool in a reform school, funny times are precious.
