In the tradition of the great bards of the old timey Middle Ages, Clutch has played over 1500 shows in their 12 years of existence. Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon has an amazing work ethic and a great musician's philosophy. He says that all the modern technology, including that crazy MP3s, are brand new and that a studio is not where a musician is supposed to hone their talent. I find this all pretty amazing coming from a jam band/noise-metal quartet. Most of the time these bands only like to dump beer...
Haven't listened to clutch in a long time, probably since their 1st full length. There was a time when all I would listen to was the Passive restraints ep on Earache records. Seen them in Boston a bunch in the mid 90's, playing in front of like 50 people at the Rat or the Causeway......wonder if they still play old songs like Impetus?
WHOOO CLUTCH, alright now that i got that out of my system, this has been one of my favorites bands through the years, their style and irreverent wit has always impressed me. Anytime I have heard a track I didn't like or would skip over, eventualy it becomes one of my favs, like a fine scotch they only seem to get better with age. Way to go SG and Daniel, giveing a great band their much needed props
This is the be all end all of my musical life. My personal Zepplin if you will. I've seen em' like 30 times or so. They always make a point to stop by the "D". If you don't listen to CLUTCH or haven't at least given them a try then you're not as cool and "with it" as you think you are.
I'm very happy to had read this interview, even if it's so many months later. Clutch is an admirable band. Burly gentlemen, if such a paradox is allowable.

seeing clutch live is like going to church.
thanks to DRE for the good taste.
it's more like you're out in the city living it up and Neil approaches you like a street preacher from hell, but he's got no bible and he speaks in riddles.
