If it's a "prequel," then we could call it "Metroid Naught." Or, we could call it "Metroid sub-2", sub-1, or whatever else they come up with. If they want to get really weird, they could call it "Metroid mod 4"

metroid exposed wink

if they do make another one please don't make it a first person shooter that really stopped me from buying it its so old and been done to death. like 55% of all share-ware games are first person shooters

third person only!!!

I loved Metroid Prime and I LOATH first person shooters. Although I would also prefer a third person prospective in a Metroid Prime sequel, another first person Metroid won't turn me off to it right away.

metroid rocks no matter what 1st person 3rd person side scrolling 3d or otherwise its not like prime sucked as bad as nintendos first person castlevania. and I hate too say it but. we may not have a choice when it comes to samas. m. prime was the only success for the gc. untill zelda wind waker came along, and well that gets its own thread. I am sure that nintendo will not ditch the 3D metroid ideas. maybe this new game will be better as far as the controls go, that was my big disapointment with prime. it was the same trouble they had on the 64 with fp 3D games. wanky assed set ups that required 3 hands and such. but if you again look to zelda, control problems were fewer. either way if they make another metriod. and you are a fan of the older ones. most likely you will play it out of pure addiction. samus is as close to a childhood friend as pixles can get. cept maybe llink... or maybe thats just me. ARRR!!!

Are all sidescrolling games "sidescrolling shooters"? Are all third person games "third person shooters"? Metroid Prime was about as much of a first person shooter as Super Metroid on the SNES was.

I personally loved Metroid Prime, best game to come out in a while on any system. Hardly the Gamecube's only success, though. In general, the Cube has never been suffering from any lack of good games. Still, given how well Metroid Prime was recieved, I'd wager we'll be seeing more from the franchise in the coming years. Even if Metroid isn't popular in Japan (and it's not), the gaming market internationally is a lot bigger than it was when Metroid 3 was a huge success in the US and a flop in it's home country.

Hopefully Metroid Zero will be a lot better than Metroid Fusion was. Fusion had great gameplay, but the overall game design seemed rushed and there were a lot of very un-Metroid story and game elements in it. "Adam Malkovitch"? "X-parasite"? Very generic names from a franchise famous for names like Ridley, Samus, and Kraid, and creatures like Zoomers, Geemers, and the Metroids themselves. Plus it's not a good idea for an exploration based game to give you a set of specific objectives and a nearly complete map at the beginning of every section of the game (sure, some areas had more hidden sections than others, but overall the exploration in the game was cut down immensly in Fusion from that found in Metroid 3). I'd go so far as to state that Metroid Prime was, in fact, more like Super Metroid than Metroid Fusion was in terms of gameplay and style, despite the first person view.
