tv sends wrong message

i just watched the last 15 minutes of lizy miguire and the message they were trying to put across 1. kids shouldnt stay up late, and 2. kids that cheat on test, get nose rings, and tatoos will grow up to be criminals. they even said all that in a little differnt way. now for some reason i think this is the wrong message to send to kids. i mean cheating isnt good but what does a nose rings and tattoos have to do with going to jail.

I think the blame falls more on Disney than on tv in general.

Yeah fuck the godbox and open up a book. Its no surpise though, media has always been pretty good at pushing its wrong ideas on people. Then again, who are we to decide what is right and wrong?

However, subliminally telling kids that piercings and nightlife are a sign of criminal identities is definately wrong. Control is such a bitch...

I watch Lizzy when Im in the states. I don't have a T.V. here. I haven't seen that episode. I wonder if my daughter would wonder about my criminal mastermind if she see's that episode in the future. Naw. I doubt it.

So um...... who here is a criminal? Raise your hand. Too bad we can't point out criminals just off piercings and tattoos alone. I mean- that would make police work pretty easy.

i dont see whats so wrong with all that. i havent watched any lizzie whatever but when i someday get little fuckers, those little fuckers are gonna go to bed a hell of a lot earlier than i do so i can get some goddamn peace and quiet and retain my sanity so i can pay the bills that feed those little fuckers so they can grow up to be big fuckers.

I'm a Mom with multiple tats and piercings (including a nose ring.) I want my son to be an open-minded person and accept all the differences in people without making judgments based on bullshit sterotypes. I would feel pretty strongly about my child watching something that "boxed" people like that. My little boy watches a lot Classic Disney films and some Blues Clues etc...Like a lot of parents, I moniter everything he watches, for "unsuitable" content. I would find that unsuitable.

I noticed the stigma attatched to people with body mods most strongly when I got my own. Obviously. I can't stand the idea that someone would think I would rob them in a dark alley just because of the way I look. Before I got anything obvious, like my facial piercings, or any large tats, people never got wierded out around me. I'm 5'0 tall and hardly look menacing. Anyway, I think that sends the wrong message to kids. Yep.
